Re: Spintron

I have no first hand experience with Spintron but I wonder how much the absence of combustion/exhaust pressure affects their results.

Anyone?

The'll likely leak coolant or oil. I'd return them.

In a bind, and if the house is ant-free, Tootise Roll works.

Re: Oil groove

Memory is fading, but don't the air cooled VW engines have long oil groves almost like that?

Re: Stop-start engines: durability & wear pattern trends?

Is there a way to delete that operation? I would think wear on the starter would be main issue along with the battery in cold weather. There are multiple ways to disable stop-start, temporarily or permanently. Quick Google addresses that. But most of cars are running it. I see fleet cars, Uber, ren...

Stop-start engines: durability & wear pattern trends?

The stop-start feature is far from novelty now, most cars I've been renting lately have it. I makes me think if the greatly increased number of starts indeed shortens the engine life or that was an old wives' tale. Or maybe the OEMs did their diligence beefing up the concern areas. Do you guys see d...

Re: Block cleaning ?

Class 8 truck. And then thinking about a rare engine block as well, and on it also can not have any machining other than just glaze breaking . So what engine is it. Class 8 is not much of an answer. But I have to ask why anything more then a dingle ball hone job is permitted?? Are there rules or is...

Do you have hot cams for Tesla or Chevy Volt?

Sorry man, I couldn't help. I wish I was in the audience of this Cam Talk by Mike. Any chances to be filmed and go to YouTube?

Re: Water injection

It's a lot to do with the difference between single carbon - carbon bonds and double carbon - carbon bonds. The single bonds are easily broken compared to the double bonds. Higher octane fuels tend to have more double bonds, the auto ignition temperature is higher. In particular the benzene rings(a...

Re: Water injection

The basic idea of octane is that it is harder to burn and therefore the burn is slower but that is not how peak HP is made .... up to the point of an uncontrollable burn a higher speed burn does better and will make a higher peak pressure so it is a fine line between to fast and to slow and this is...

Re: Copper head gaskets on a street motor

I'd seriously rethink your choice. I really tried to make it work on my dragster (SBC 400), but had chronic fluid leaks. The engine decks weren't in good shape (common on SBC 400), but a standard composite gasket solved all the problems. Also, I find the claim that copper gaskets are reusable questi...

Re: 3D-Printed Pistons

IMHO, if money availability and capitalism wasn't involved so heavily in our bias.. we'd surely be much further ahead technologically than we currently are. There's often a better way to design or fabricate something.. but when it interferes with our ability to make more money?.. that idea quickly ...
