Re: FE Ford lifter bank angle?

90-degrees from one lifter bore across the top of the block to the other lifter bore. Same as the cylinder bore.

Re: Harley Twin Cam not getting oil to the top end.

New pushrods can have trash in them blocking the oil flow. A good mechanic will always check for this but you never know.

Re: Camshaft lobe lift accuracy?

Your measuring technique is causing the error. When measuring across the base circle diameter, you are also picking up some of the actual cam profile. Basically part of the opening and closing ramps are also being measured. I assume this is a roller cam profile, sometimes this technique will work o...

Re: Camshaft Duplication

Does anyone know if it's possible to exactly duplicate a camshaft profile by copying the lobes of an existing camshaft without access to the design files or old lobe masters?? Thanks! "exactly duplicate a camshaft profile" The short answer is no. The lift table on a cam profile design is ...

The Torque Master lobes were designed in house.
Is there a catalogue of these lobes?

Re: Lobe design revisions

The various Camshaft companies used to hire Harold Brookshire "UDHAROLD" to design new cam lobe designs from scratch for that cam company. He'd design a whole bunch of durations version from small to big "shoe size" within that cam design family. Then they'd give it a fancy adve...

Re: Lobe design revisions

What is it that you think is changing in cam profile designs. Cam profiles are created using mathematical formulas. Is the math different today than it was years ago? Do you get different results from the same equations if you use a modern computer? As far as pushing the envelope with maximum veloci...

Intake closing determines the dynamic compression ratio, pretty important to know.

Interesting, that's a new one for me. I would guess the polymer pieces are 3-D printed. New method for creating sample cam profiles.

Re: Camshaft lobe designers

A bunch of them went to Harvey Crane's Cam Design school, and used his cam design software. Others just use one of the other cam design programs that are available. Very, very few have their own proprietary cam design software. Well looking at stuff from a few, a lot of them look very similar. Some...

Re: Cam intake lobe vs exhaust lobe

I am considering a DOHC motorcycle and maybe this question will apply to other applications. Will someone explain the difference between the profile of a camshaft intake lobe and an exhaust lobe of same lift and duration? And, why there is a difference? I understand that the intake has a different ...

Re: Camshaft data

Sorry, when I think of cam profile lift tables, everything is at the lobe. One degree rotation at the lobe with the lift at the tappet that the profile is being designed for.
