I like Dailey Engineering. Sold/used many of them.

Re: Innova timing lights

I purchased one of those about a year ago. I've had no issues with it, works good. Use it in the dyno room regularly.

I can't imagine why you would need to re-nitride the crank only taking a thou off. Seems ridiculous.

Re: Extra Clearance Bearings, Use One half, Top or Bottom?

Maybe the bearing companies recommend only using certain halves in certain locations so you'll waste more bearing/thus they sell more. Just a thought. I regularly use them both ways w/o issue.

Re: Pulling truck engine "again" BBC

I have brazed the floors of the BBC heads up. Makes for big improvement. You can make a lot of power with the rectangle port heads w/o moving valves around. Personally, I think there are better places to spend money unless one has an unlimited budget. Oh, and no I don't want the job doing it just in...

Don't remember the size for sure but there is a metric (seems like 15mm) that fits that nut real well.

Re: Spark Plug Recommendations...

What is making you want to try something else in the first place? On high RPM big blocks with iron heads, detonation can be a problem. Even running them down a few degrees of timing from best dyno power and pretty fat. I am thinking that possibly the fact that the Autolite plugs are stainless that ...

Spark Plug Recommendations...

In truck pull applications I've used many Autolite AR132s and AR133s. Does anyone have any recommendations other than NGK? I'm not an NGK fan but may have to try them a while if know one has any better recommendations.

Thanks, Bret

Re: BBC Gen VI factory lifters

I have used the stock style Crowers to around 410-420 on the seat without issue on a few 502's, but that said Crower does not recommend anything over around 375 like was said so I quit using them. This info is not written anywhere but if you call tech that will be their advice. I think Crower just u...

Re: Budget pulling truck engine named (Tommy Boy)

FYI, in Central and Southern MO the competitive SS big blocks horsepower peak in mid 7s and higher with OEM iron intakes, Fords generally a little higher than Chevy. Our ProStreet's peak from 8200-8500 with OEM heads and cast aluminum intakes. I know IAMO allows only OEM blocks in big blocks so that...

Why are you looking for horsepower peak so low?

Re: MSD won't repair there own products

I had a 7AL3 on my dyno a few years ago, lost the bottom end of my personal motor because of it. Would jump 15* in timing out of nowhere. Did not figure it out until I setup to dyno another motor and this time I caught it. Sent it in for repair. Paid the bill. And just accidentally caught it doing t...

Re: GM 8.1 Rod Length?

the marine version uses a forged piston by JE. They use an unconventional ring package but they seem to last as long as the stupid rod don't break #-o I've rebuilt a lot of these marine 8.1s both Volvo and Mercruiser and never seen a forged piston in one yet. Now all the 502s have JE forged pistons.

Re: Bronze or copper alloy seats in iron heads

I have used them in iron CJ heads and also GM 990 heads. May have lost one after 5 years of very hard use truck pulling, not sure if it was the seat or the exhaust valve that let go first.
