Re: Intake experts...figure this one out!
Restrictor plate intakes and spacers are an interesting thing. When they first put a 7/8" hole plate on the local circle track class for the coming season, most put a std 1" 4 hole spacer on top. I spent the winter on the dyno developing a combination of spacer that ended up 110hp better t...

Any data on what happens to the intake pressure wave and reflection under boost in the intake manifold?

Re: Excessive oil pressure
Here this is the one.....I know you Stock Eliminator guys are all wound up over friction losses and other BS and this is advertised as 10% increased volume but this IS THE PUMP to run in a wet sump SBC.....drill some big leak holes in you oil galley plugs in the timing chain cover or call an oil co...

Re: Exhaust / intake flow ratios on LS heads
The big throats work well with high lift cams. Probably because sonic flow is said to be more dependent on area than on seat geometry. Sims show some of the combos we've done stuff for to remain sonic across the seat through around .400"or so lift. So, area-wise the big throats may very well f...

Re: Exhaust / intake flow ratios on LS heads
Lots of assumptions being made that you can actually gather any useful data "flowing" an exhaust port..... shawn "Now that sounds just plain silly. The heads you see on the market today are directly the result of flow bench and dyno data. Do you know how long it takes to develop a he...

I haven't seen anything that is newer. I try to avoid cast iron as much as possible lol.

Re: Power possible from cast iron 23 deg non R/R chev
Sounds like a hybrid old school/new school comp motor with a little Cup thrown in for good measure. If it was me I wouldn't build anything bigger than 310", using the parameters layed out. You didn't say the heads couldn't be welded, you couldn't change the cam core size or lifter diameters. Ca...

Re: Flat Tappet lifters?
Hi Al, we do quite a few of these deals for the late model pavement crowd. I use Ferrea lifters and p55 cores with 180lbs seat and 460lbs+ over the nose. This is the "typcial" stuff without having to get to exotic. Medium fast lobes with 1.8 rockers. Depending on the lobes you pick and roc...

Re: dyno, looking for improvement.
Ditch the vacuum advance. Set the timing so that you have a minimum of 36* total, with springs that get it in asap. Sounds like you just need some basic tuning stuff. On our engine dyno I would think you'd see 480ish hp. Chassis dyno's vary, but somewhere 420-440hp I would think is realistic.
