Re: 422 ci sbc running rich at idle
I took the carb off again as I’ve played with so many adjustments. The transfer slots on primary’s and secondary’s are covered. I opened the back one 3 1/2 turns to get .020 and the primary I opened the idle screw 5 1/2 turns to make x pose the transfer slots. The air bleed screw under the air clean...

Re: 422 ci sbc running rich at idle
Transfer slots are fine and secondary blade adjustments
This carb was brand new and had problems with it running rich sent it to mark and he did some work to it but it still runs rich at idle and the previous carb did same thing on this motor

Re: 422 ci sbc running rich at idle
I’m going to take 2 degrees of timing out at 3300 rpm
As not sure 40 degrees timing will cause denoation on 94 octane pump gas . At 40 degrees it is not as rich at idle.
By srewing in the air bleed creates a stumble if u hammer the throttle

It’s idling at 1200 rpm
It has a electric fan, water pump and radiator but electric fan isn’t turned until after a pass
Msd 6al plug gap .035 NGk 7

I couldn’t see. What the purpose of the gasket was as the tin plate blocks all the ports anyways.
Jw told me to use the gasket and if I put in one of there billet supports then you didn’t need the gasket. I guess I’m still learning how the flow gets to the reverse piston

Re: Mystery
Does the motor seem to be making rpm faster now since the rebuild, if so you may be revin thru the power band too fast making for the ET loss , but that being said your mile per drop has me concerned. Did your fire up the freshened up motor with oiled up cylinder walls , or dry They should have bee...
