598 plug recomendations
We have a 598 with a set of BB3 big brodie heads with 14-5-1 compression and a 1250 dominator. We are running VP C23 fuel with a 7AL3 ignition.
I noticed that the hotter the ngk plug we run the numbers got better in the 1/8 mile.
Anyone have any experience with this combo?

Re: 1250 Holly secondary throttle setting
8 1/2 lbs is way too much pressure. Rather than running out of fuel, you may be pouring in too much fuel. Could have got some crud into the regulator which now may have dislodged and everything good again. Whats the pressure now? I run it back down to 6 pounds where i had it for a while. I got to l...

I went thru the valves and none of them was off ,but i snugged them up a hair.
We warmed it up and all was well.
We are going to the track this weekend and see if we done any good.
I will post the results Saturday morning.
Thanks for the thoughts fellows.

They look like black plastic.cgarb wrote:Does it have the eva foam floats? If so how long ago have they been replaced? Sometimes they absorb fuel and get heavy also.

Re: 1250 Holly secondary throttle setting
I am gonna check & clean them squirters now. I will post findings. I am back....the front float bowl was low by 2 1/2 flats low and the back (secondary) was 1 1/2 flats low. I don't know if that would make any difference or not but it sounds crisper and seems to have more throttle response. I k...

Re: 1250 Holly secondary throttle setting
The accelerator pump wont have anything to do with fuel pressure. The bowl is vented so the fuel in there is not under pressure. There are little pins under the squirters that act as check valves to keep fuel up there in the passage. Make sure that they are not stuck. I run methanol and some fuel t...

Re: 1250 Holly secondary throttle setting
If this happened after a jet change I would be looking for a misaligned metering block gasket, or bowl gasket which could block off accelerator pump fuel and or a possibly clogged passage from dirt being moved around from being disturbed. Take everything back apart and blow everything out with chok...

1250 Holly secondary throttle setting
we are having a stumble when we reach about 5000RPM it just falls and picks up falls and picks up then i hold it steady and it stops stumbling. it acts up at full throttle around 5000 to 6000 RPM. It seems to be running out of fuel maybe. I thought maybe the pump linkage needed setting. Then again i...

Re: 1250HP air bleeds
Either you are getting induction pulsing at some point causing a little fuel to blow back thru or air is coming across the bleeds to siphon a little. Does it have a cowl hood? I do have a suggestion on bleeds, try some .028's in the mains, .080's in the intermediate. Thanks you very much. I will tr...

1250HP air bleeds
I am having problems with the high speed air bleed pumping fuel up and out of the jets it is just a little fuel but I know this is not right. The engine is a 598 merlin with BB3 big brodie heads. The cam is a bullet 816 lift solid roller. We have a 2 speed pro glide tranny with a 4500 stall converte...
