Re: Valve seat placement
I read a couple studies where they showed the heat soak from the head to the stem of the valve. The temperature according to them is essentially the same well past the seat angle I thought about the OEM's and seat placement. I would guess longevity is not the only thing they consider Maybe, I do not...

Re: Valve seat placement

Considering heat, wouldn't the seat set at the margin also transfer more heat to the seat insert because of a larger contact area, adding to longevity

Re: Valve seat placement
He did not want the seat closter to the stem, he wants it in the middle of the seat angle on the valve
The valve angle is something like .150 wide in this application

Re: Valve seat placement
I did not consider the heat aspect but with that in mind, I am not convinced the seat close to the margin will go away faster

Valve seat placement
Recently started working for a mostly production shop Setting up for a valve job on a Serdi with a multi angle cutter bit, I set the seat diameter for the valve size so the seat will be at the margin extending toward the stem I always set seats to the diameter of the valve and this is where they com...

Re: Game changer lifters?
The price was real suspect when I heard it. I was curious as to how they were doing.
I do not use flat tappets as of a year or so ago. Just not worth the worry for me.

Game changer lifters?
The last thread on the Comp Cams DLC coated flat tappet lifters was locked due to no real world evidence of them working at the time.
Anyone using them yet? Just curious.

Like Bill C said above, noise comes through the muffler shell.
A good coating of spray on sound deadener after a heat coating should make a big difference with mufflers like I use in my earlier post. It will protect them form the elements also
