Crane roller lifters

Any of you guys have an old Crane catalog or possibly know when Crane made all their roller lifters for BBC tall? I found a set of ultra pro off set lifters 13571-16 but they aren't tall unfortunately. Wondering what the part number is for the short offset lifters I have, they look identical to old ...

Copper head gasket markings

Working on a blown alky bbc and found these markings on the head gaskets.

I've seen this before but it was years ago.

Anyone have an idea who made them and the reason for the embossed markings?... the 888 must have been an part number I'm assuming?

They are proud of the surface maybe .010-.015

Re: Rok-Block removal

Update on my Milkstone remover test. The fill piece turned into mush, completely broken down. The iron piece doesn't look to bad but it's black... My jug says mixture of phosphoric and sulfuric acid, my jug is probably 4-5 years old. The msds states phosphoric acid only. I might look at current jugs...

Re: Rok-Block removal

Billk you're probably right! I think what I'm gonna do is remove as much of the crumbling fill then acid wash and let dry good. Thinking I might use fiberglass resin to fill about another 1/2" or so. Anyone use fiberglass resin to fill before? Issues? Better idea? I've used it numerous times to...

Re: Rok-Block removal

I tried milkstone remover using the chip method again.

Seems to be attacking the iron more than the fill... so that's not gonna work either.

Re: Rok-Block removal

With the current fill crumbling if I just try to patch it I'll have issues sooner than later. If the block didn't have so much work done to it I'd just use another. But that's what I'll probably have to do, remove as much loose stuff as I can then acid wash and pour it again... Pull the pin and wait...

Re: Rok-Block removal

I wonder if phosphoric acid would hurt cast iron?

I noticed my go to for radiator flush is phosphoric acid.

Better known in the farming community as milkstone remover.

Re: Rok-Block removal

Muriatic acid and aluminum is a no no for anything other than a quick cleaning.

Works great as a crusty carb flush too as long as you have the garden hose running right by.

It removes iron too just takes longer to eat away.

Re: Rok-Block removal

I put a couple chips in an small aresol can cap then put a few drops of muriatic acid on and left it outside over night. Well I had 2 chips left but smaller and goo in the bottom of the little cap... Not sure what I'm gonna do because some is soft and breaks out easily and some is hard like it's sup...

Re: Rok-Block removal

Looks like it's back to the hard way again.

I was sorta hoping someone came up with something by now.

I'm guessing antifreeze is what broke this stuff down.
I can't think of anything else that would cause it to start coming apart.

Rok-Block removal

Has anyone came up with an easier way to remove block fill yet? I have a block that the filler is falling apart on and need to refill it... maybe... Judging by the way the filler looks compared to other filler I've used I'm leaning towards Rok-Block was used. There was a post i found that Cement off...
