Chevy, rotating in reverse after a spinout
Had a motor blow this week after the second place car hit us and spun car, did a 180, then rolled backwards for 100 ft or so with a direct drive transmission. Car did fire up, then blew a lap later. Question is: did the motor spinning in the opposite direction have everything and/or nothing to do wi...

How much cam is too much?
Building a 9.5:1 sbc 406, afr 220 heads, edelbrock dual plane intake, 1-3/4 headers, 750 holley, in a street el camino, (no racing just street bashing) I want to get the most driveability and still have good horse power. Will limit it to 6,000 rpms (so it lasts longer) Question: how much cam can i u...

Re: +.050 valve locks?
Ok that’s the way I understood it but wanted to be sure. It wasn’t really stated where the .050 was being applied.bobalattie wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 9:44 pm +.050 will increase installed height..
You need -.050 to reduce installed height and increase seat pressure

Re: +.050 valve locks?
That’s also part of my question. Machinist said he didn’t like to use shims. They’ve been in a lot of other motors I’ve had with no issues.
I did have a buddy who’s motor had pieces of his shims all over in the pan. The shims broke along the little lines stamped in them. Not sure on what brand.

+.050 valve locks?
My machinist says my heads need shims under the valve springs. He said special locks that have the shim built into them are available. (11/32” Ferrea radial groove/beadlock) I’m trying to find them and having trouble. 1.250” springs. I see most locks say +.050 but what does that mean. I need it to p...

Re: Street Cam sbc
With matching size eyebrow pistons, can I safely get to .550 lift with 2.02 valves?
Or does this type of Cam ramp up the speeds so interference is Less likely
