Re: Building an 11 second 70's nostalgic SBC

Do you want it externally period correct or period correct right through? I'd go 383 cube with scat pro I beam rods & modern pistons with 1mm/1mm/2.8mm ring pack. 292 heads if you can find them & ported by someone who knows them well. Strip dominator intake 300-25. Old style 850 pumper holley - but...

Re: Cleveland heads

plate.pngLike Steve K said.. They really don't need much. I just built a 383 with very mild head clean up work and with 12to1 and a cam that is 260 at .050 it make 625HP. 585 with the stock intake manifold. These heads flowed 325 non touched port with bowl clean up. I did test a set of the MPG bras...

Re: Early prostock iron heads.

I worked for Roush in the late 70s Edger was his head porter and the Veins was to reduce turbulence at high lift. If I remember right the four speed cars got them and the Auto cars got the floors filled. I remember that we also used to Post the heads on the front and back to help to reduce blowing a...

Re: Maximuim Pin to lock Clearance

I agree with Charlie, While its not the number that we're wanting to hear it's still OK. The round locks are usually the same wire diameter for .975, .980, .984 and .990 Lets say the wire is .072, the formula for the groove dia. is: pin diameter plus .072 plus .010=1.057 Would be different for .990...

Re: Angle milling

Looks like it has been high ported on the exhaust side. Those vanes bolted in the inlet ports are interesting. Does anyone know the reasoning behind that? I worked for Roush back in the day, Edgar was are head guy. I believe this was to help stable the turbulence and air separation. These 4V heads ...

How about a .020 drilled hole in the driver side front lifter galley, It also does a great job of oiling the Dist. gear.
