Re: Senate Bill on Racing
I got an automated response in about 6 hrs and 2 days later I haven't got one from the other senator. This is about the same response it got with other issues though it was flip flopped which senator replied 1st. I'm sure the other senator will reply soon. On other issues after the auto reply I rece...

We do some dangerous this and when we walk beside an air compressor every day in our lives we think nothing of it. If we stopped to figure the odds we would get an office job.

Re: about a Nitro cackle engine
I personally know someone that has a real 500 cubic inch blown nitro motor on a trailer. It will cackle a bit and at night there is a bit of flame. The problem with getting the full effect is that you need a clutch and a load on the engine. This gets quite dangerous to be around. Don't even try it. ...

If you want to tell if you're detonating pull your spark plugs. Look for purple/black fly specs.

Re: Piston to valve clearance with solid cam
Long ago I seen such cutters that resembled a valve with cutter teeth and an adjustable stop in an Isky catalog. This was back in the early 80's when I was in college. People look at me like I'm crazy when I mention them today.

Re: Ugh: One bad SBC block head thread
In this situation or any other Clean and tap all holes as you are cleaning the block. Whenever a thread gets tight before it should stop and fix it then. Don't continue on and try to make up for it later. If you ran a tap through sealer consider the sealer ineffective. Clean the goop off the tap, re...

Re: Getting my a$$ kicked by a Honda ball joint
Use a rivet gun or an air hammer with a sawn off punch so you're hitting it with a flat punch. The vibration helps pop it loose.

Re: HEI power supply.
The instructions for my MSD HEI module said to a minimum of a 14 gauge wire and the MSD module is said to pull 7.5 amps. I've used this module several times and the stock HEI wiring or I used a 12 ga never a problem.

Re: 331ci horsepower
You are leaving too much on the table. A little here, a little there, a little everywhere adds up to a bunch. Build it and sell it to a bracket racer or street rodder and get what you need.

Re: Nascar 550 hp limit ??
I don't pretend to have the answers but just some opinions and observations. Nobody wants to see a car win by 2 laps. Well if they are 2 laps faster/ smarter, worked 2 laps harder while following the same set of rules I do. While I enjoy the idea of a 500 mile race a 250 mile race would be more mark...

Put pieces of hose on the valve stems to protect them. Cat litter can be used for an abrasive.

Re: Cranking Pressure concern
Bring a cyl to TDC. Get a rubber tip blow gun or make a spark plug adaptor and pressurize the cyl. Listen for air flow and not where it's coming from intake, breather or exhaust. Valve leakage could be a bad valve seal or it could be something simpler such as valve timing or lash to tight. I've seen...
