Re: XP vs HP main bodies (Holley)

The aluminum HP main bodies use the same bleed locations as the XP. The don't have the idle air bleed and they don't have stepped boosters like the XPs.

Re: What Happened to Edelbrock's new VRS-4150 Carburetor?

Engineering at Edelbrock was fun in some ways, but the problems out in the manufacturing shop are too frustrating and demoralizing to design for. I designed an RB Chrysler head for 383,426,440 engines that was a huge improvement over the previous head. The foundry tooling was made by an outside sup...

Re: Air fuel ratio tracking rich

Your description isn't very clear... what changed between _3 and _4? Was there a carb switch? If so, what was the first carb? Thx

Re: Statment from Rick Roberts, regarding Speedmaster press release.

Had to go re-read the Speedmaster release to see exactly what they stated: "Speedmaster is proud to announce the addition of Fredrick (Rick) Roberts PhD as North American Director of Engineering. Rick is well known for serving 28 years as Edelbrock's Director of Engineering and played an integr...

Re: Cam Specs: Seat vs .050"

OK, I'll throw in two different things here that *may* fit into the discussion above. First, a bunch of stuff I posted elsewhere about a decade ago re lash settings and measured duration points: https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/1277696/Searchpage/1/Main/113458/...

Re: !970's Pro-Stock Camshaft Spec.'s

Thanks to Larry for the Picture of the Roy Hill driven Mopar, and Thank you Mike ( CamKing ) and every body else who contributed to this thread, it was a dream back in time and was enjoyable. Mark H. :) Re Roy Hill; one saw him race once, the U.S. Pro Stock Open in either 1976 or 1977. He and his D...

Re: !970's Pro-Stock Camshaft Spec.'s

I'm surprised nobody has dug up their dog-eared copy of Grumpy's SBC race engine book from the mid-70s where he goes into a lot of detail on what he ran for cams...

Re: PCV vs EVAC

I dug up the following after reading this thread. I don't recall where I came across it, and must not have been interested in whatever "Stage 1" and "Stage 2" were cuz I didn't bother taking screen-shots of them for reference at the time. Similar concept, except the PCV valves ar...

Bushed & indexed lifter bores = power improvement?

I did a search and didn't notice any existing threads that talked about this, or certainly nothing recent. Have people found power improvements going from production-line lifter bores to bushed & indexed lifter bores? FWIW, I'm dealing w/ old Chrysler 440 cast iron blocks and solid roller lifter...

What's been done to the trans to handle that amount of power?

No way I could do that in 10 minutes.

You opted to vote with your feet; done the same myself on occasion when the $ vs my expectation of the work involved didn't align.

Re: How much to flow heads

All that's needed is a shop vac, remove the valve, plug the valve guide, and insert a pressure sensor at the inlet. :D Considering how little value most flow numbers actually contribute to engine performance, why bother with expensive measurement that won't be used? :( I can't speak for others, esp...
