Re: Cooling tricks with iron headed hot rods?
Cold air certainly one of the bet hedges against detonation. That is if the science posted here at Speed-Talk has any merit. Which it does. Chad Speier did a neat thread on his TPI CAI. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/fabrication/768690-my-cold-air-intake.html Do you know Chads horsepower with his ...

Re: Cranking compression results are in
There are current production engines, in street cars running 13:1 on 87, at WOT ...so a lot has changed. Those same engines do pick up power on 93. But if you are expecting old stuff to run more compression on 93 than we did 25 years ago, your setup won't be the same as it was 25 years ago. But not...

Re: battery tech
I'm trying to do everything i can to get my new race car down to the weight of my old car that i crashed. So when i show up at the track in theory it should run at least the same speed. This new car has a few things that add weight and a few things that are lighter but it ended up being about 53 po...

Re: Crank trigger, damper, and pulley stackup
Aftermarket Dampers are "bolt on" parts that should and normally do come in the right size. Pulleys are the same way. Now I want to add a crank trigger ignition system - simple 4 magnet deal. This would involve a crank wheel that would bolt between damper and pulley. Now belt alignment is...

Springs between the pads? Not yet. Gotta work on it. Lots to do though. For a crude test, I tested my 95 corolla coasing from a hill that is 1/2 mile from my driveway... had to apply brakes to make it in the driveway. My 63 Comet hotrod would did not make it to the driveway without a little gas... ...

It's not that good, but better than Dave's 69 by far. It has factory front discs, I'd like to figure out how to anti drag them, anyone? Good question, and on my list. Just remember 305 stockers have gone 10.60, do we want a 305 stocker out running us? No I don't, we will be working on it. Thanks fo...

Re: Inexpensive 350 Build
Vortecpro Do you have a certain starting line ratio that you have worked with in past at similar weight? Is there a time it becomes to much at similar weight and power you now have? Can you give your take on that ? The low HP stuff likes a 2.91 low gear. I bought the entire drive line engine trans ...

Re: Offshore head and intake ID
Well Bill, whatever the reason is, he didn't get any blueprinting info and doesn't trust it, so I am going inside anyway. I doubt running it would be much more than a waste of dyno time, assuming it doesn't spin a bearing or shake itself to death. Hell, it's been on a stand in the corner of my shop...

Here is the current centerline trace of the SSR as best I could measure it. It is a little more laid back than the pictures of the port mold tend to indicate, and it is not a continuous true radius. Also included in the drawing are two hypothetical short sides. Both options make the assumption that...

Re: Holley QFT pod. How many turns u runnin?
Turbo Camaro: That’s what I thought also. Closes them all the way tight then cracked them 1/8 turn to prevent binding. It’s an original Holley HP 4 corner base. Not converted. Robban: If I show transition on the secondary, I’ll have to open them about 1/2 turn. Two schools of thought. Probably the ...

Re: Holley QFT pod. How many turns u runnin?
I’m thinking it’s how I have the secondary idle set. 1/8th of a turn with no secondary transition showing. I can get no answer from Holley on what the factory secondary idle setting is. I tried 1/4 turns but then it throws off my idle mixture. Right now my primary idle is at 3/4 turns with .030 tra...
