Re: Bolt Stretch on SCAT Connecting Rods
The maximum stretch value given was .0068in, If any of the rod bolts have shown to have grown .001 in free length un-torqued they are trash. There was no maximum torque / do not exceed value, and no maximum torque cycles in eagles literature. I fudged the math on a few of them and took them to 100lb...

Re: Things that make me worry and scratch my head!
Years back when I used to be a fleet mechanic I had a driver pull in with a Kenworth powered by a Caterpillar C10. The guy hops out, looks me in the eyes dead serious and states "Hey it's running kind of rough I think it needs new spark plugs". I forget what the actual issue was but it sur...

Re: 3 and 4 link rear suspension questions
Just an update for anybody interested, I have finished the rear suspension aside from the swaybar and have started on the roll cage. Re: Scorpion & Doug Herbert Products
Although I have not used the shaft systems yet, I have used the stud mount rocker arms from Scorpion on most of my SBF builds. I have yet to see any issues from the Scorpion products. Recently, when checking piston to valve clearance, I noticed that the actual rocker ratio was not as advertised (th...

I don't know anything about their sb2 block but we just bought a 410 raised cam block from them and it is a really nice piece.

Re: Tech miss-directions to win races - and make a lot of m
Put Pro Comp decals on the car. That's evil. I can't think of an instance when myself or anyone in my family gave out miss information when we ran a mini stock or speedway sprintcars. I know we may have left out some very important details when we were asked certain things about engines or car setu...

Re: 3 and 4 link rear suspension questions
Typo. 14" = 1.166 ft. The tension on the upper link is 4132 lbs. The forward thrust does offset some of this but it's erring on the safe side to disregard that. So now you have 4132 lbs applied at the center of a "beam" (the pivot bolt for the upper link) which is 5 inches long and i...

Re: 3 and 4 link rear suspension questions
Lets say the peak engine out put is 350 lb ft, it is just a mild 306 small block ford, transmission first gear is 3.35, rear axle ratio is 4.11 distance between the upper and lower links at their farthest configuration would be 21 1/2 inches apart, upper link being 14 inches from axle center line an...

Re: 3 and 4 link rear suspension questions
Your supports for your upper arm look quite far apart (at both ends). Have you calculated the tension force on that upper arm under maximum acceleration and calculated the stresses on the crossbar that the upper arm is secured to? No I have not done an analysis of the possible forces on any of the ...

Re: Ford 351W & aluminum heads read this.....
Sorry to say, but you've ruined those heads now. You'll likely never remove those stainless threaded studs, once a stainless bolt is threaded into an aluminum thread, it's IN THERE. They don't come out without destroying the threads. This is due to Galvanic Corrosion I am guessing? I know stainless...

Re: oil cooler affecting oil pressure. need advice.
You are using AN lines and fittings ? If so it is possible that when the lines were assembled a fitting cut the inside of the line creating a flap. Could you please post more details about the engine as it could also be that the lines are simply too small for the application.
