Re: Dual spark plugs or squish?

Dutchman, that works with a flat chamber shelf like Evo and TC, this is a spherical open chamber head, Truck's engine already has nearly 3/4" rise in the dome.He also said he had clearance'd the dome a little at the top [ i expect to get away from a little rub] There is not much you can do tha...

Re: Dual spark plugs or squish?

Side squish bans I have done in the past on evo big twin stuff years ago. In a drag racing app they performed well. Not a difficult task . A lathe with 15 in swing should do the job with a face plate and a piston fixture. I would buy a blank .750 dome set of Pistons, figure the angle I wanted of the...

A local guy use to bore to the final size and ball hone the finish. Looked just like that.
He worked on a dirt floor, don't know why but he always stayed busy. Cheep I guess

Usually I just read the instructions with the piston set.
No need to reinvent the wheel

Re: Vizard vs Foxwell

With regards to lines of code... I'm am talking specifically about the code to simulate the dynamics. To do that on a par with modern standards is beyond what one person could code unless they dedicated their life to it. There was no simulation in Harvey's software. It was just for designing a lift...

Re: Diagnosing damage

The mains are definitely showing crank flex regardless,un loading and staying in it would be my guess. Other than chassis tuning and driver improvements to keep it in power without unloading.not much will help that crank. What oil system and clearance. Top alcohol motors will rattle if you shake th...

Re: Just made a sump. How do I seal the weld leaks?

Spray a soapy solution on the outside of the pan and blow compressed air on the inside.
Warm the pan up with a torch and recheck, may expose a bad weld when it's hot also.

Re: Anyone tried S&S carbs on an inline engine?

I wanted to do something similar with a flathead ford, I was going to use a b series . Essentially a b is a e without a accelerator pump. In stock form you have a idle, intermediate ,and a hi speed circuit. All coming in at wot. You can tune the timing on the hi speed with a adjustable air bleed, the...

Re: Anyone ever see cylinder wear like this?

There appears to be scuffing 360 around the bores. It looks even enough to agree with the rings butting. Off shore cylinders are a crap shoot at best. Lately I have used a ductle iron sleeve from darton sleeve and bore until the spigot is gone, cut off the flame ring. The flame ring is about .060 bigg...

Re: Pulley run out?

If it's a hard to find or unobtainable I would chuck it up in a lathe, indicate the outside then bore the center to a nominal size and make a steeped bushing bringing it back to 5/8. A pretty easy fix.

Re: Valve springs

Are valve springs similar to lifters in there are a few manufacturers and several distributors. Recently had a set fail on the Dyno,4 pulls up to 65000 and at least 1/2 broke. They were not pac or psi but we're a reputable name. 1.500 spring,795 lift 975 over the nose and .060-.065 to coil. Strange ...

Re: How to approach mechanic screwup?

....the sync signal has to be reset between the cam and crank sensor, you need a scanner to do such. Also you need to reset the parameters Thanks to both of you; I'm now reading about nearly the same symptoms and the fix on a Dodge truck forum. I doubt if my guy has a scanner but I will refer him to...

Re: How to approach mechanic screwup?

As a 20 yr Chrysler tech from another lifetime, the sync signal has to be reset between the cam and crank sensor, you need a scanner to do such. Also you need to reset the parameters . The vehicle is compensating for changes as the timing is changed from the timing chain slowly wearing out, then a repa...
