Re: 496 Drag Test REDO.............

Stan I don't know anything about the test you posted above, but here is the 496 dyno test data. You're only going to have 660 foot data to work with, thanks for your time. It would be great if Larry would like to contribute as well! Observed HP @ 6400 feet elevation was 460 HP 23.7 baro approx. Can...

Re: The truth on bowl sizing

Ive been confused here recently over the topic of bowl sizing of a cylinder head, and as i wait for my flowbench to get here and discover for myself, i figured i would pick yalls brain. I have been told both ways of this argument, first that you need to add a bunch of volume to the bowl in order to...

Re: What is the most nitrous hp that you have used?

Talking about use in a budget cast crank forged pistons SBC BBc Or ford? Wondering how much did you spray until failure of some kind. My personal (comfortable) use in that area would be 150 for small block and 200 to 225 for BBC, with a forged crank and rods I have used a 300 shot that dyno...

1993 Chevy half ton with 280,000 miles... 2009 Chevy 2500 HD with 190,000 miles... the only additive I have used is TK7 fuel additive in a cpl of tanks a year, not sure what the internals look like because they run fine, fuel mileage is consistent and I haven't had to do anything but oil change and ...

In the lifter section Comp claims US made lifters, did this change are just false advertisement?

Re: Comp Cams DLC Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters

I was just wondering if anyone here has used these since they were released? I talked to a guy over on the Pontiac Forum who says they have worked awesome for him, he used them in a 350 SBC and has torn it back down twice since being dynoed and driven, and he said the Camshaft had the normal wear p...

Re: Promaxx project x heads

It's a street strip deal, hydraulic roller xr294hr cam, th400 3.73 gears which I might go lower on. I think what I have should put me around 460-480 hp. I probably just keep the heads I have unless the promaxx will just make a huge difference. My guess is your money would be better spent having you...

Re: pontiac build

All of the 1967 & later D-port heads had the same port volumes up to about 1970. Irrespective of the valve size. The port size on a #16 with 2.11" intake valves is the SAME as a #11 or #47 with the smaller 1.96" valves. All that Pontiac did was sink the cutter deeper for the heads get...

Re: pontiac build

Those #16 heads came in two configurations , small valve ( 1.96/ 1.66 ) or large valve ( 2.11/1.77 ) 72cc approximately. Usually screw in studs. The small valve heads may be press in studs. I believe the ports are the same . Good for about 400hp with large valve version and headers , street cam. mi...

This year's combo
206cc dart straight plug heads 65cc chamber.
60 passes and a couple miles street.
Unleaded 98 pumpgas.
Just run water injection and you don't have to worry about burn patterns. :)

Re: Testing - Wet flow test rig Ford A460 head - This is only a test !

I'm not even sure how you can quantify anything going on with that setup. For starters, you are blowing air into the port, injecting a dye at a different location, no plenum, if its carbureted you shoul be pulling from the boosters with the same specific gravity dye as fuel, the port and combustion...

Re: Drilling throttle blades...where to start?

Unfortunately I didn't have time to really fine tune it. The kid was impatient and took the truck home before I was done. No PVC...just valve covers with breathers. I did have the secondaries cracked just a hair. I put 3/32" holes in the primaries and 1/16" in the secondaries, which helpe...
