Re: Head Port Advice Old 409

Always surprised at the number these kind of engines put out and in factory trim- what killed them in the day?

- just a stop gap engine on the way to something better?
- cost of engine?
- dead end due to rotating assembly weight?

Re: Best power steering fluid to quiet fussy pump

Well, came around full circle and did a flush with Beck Arnley Honda fluid and one bottle of Lubeguard. Still get an odd growl but nothing like before. Seems like this is an old trick.

Re: Burst oil filter,22re

There's probably six other brands of filter I prefer when reaching for filter- I didn't install but it was just for short term use anyway. I've never had any filter issues during my driving/maitaining career. I hope it is a one off issue and not a pressure issue, I never had the engine running prior...

Burst oil filter,22re

1990 4runner 22re turbo retrofit. Tuner calls me yesterday and says there's oil all over his dyno. New standalone ecu so truck has idled with no issues but when rev'd the Fram failed- don't know if it was filter or o-ring. Oe short block was traded for turbo compression friendly short block and had ...

Re: Weak part throttle performance

Since building this new engine for my heavy weight ‘83 F150 extended cab, I haven’t been very happy with its performance, especially in part throttle stop and go traffic situations. To recap... .030 over 351w, 10:1 compression, promaxx 180cc heads (flow 262@.550”, 266@.600”), Jones hydraulic roller...

Re: Brake in oil

No1 is to have a good maintenance routine- the best filter could be reserved for those 10k oil changes;) Just in hand I like Mobil1, but probably will use Baldwin or Donaldson after the box of ACD is used up.

Hydraulic rollers have been the worst by far.
