Re: Cooling tricks with iron headed hot rods?

For whatever reason I changed back to long life antifreeze with a container of water wetter and the ping...

If you crutch it for the street- are you really going to be happy in a competitive environment? Can you run propane for the street or use a different carb and run EXX ?

Re: When does custom porting become beneficial?
When it comes to heads and cams- I'm firmly in the camp that the newer the better. If you want double humps I think TFS still makes an alum version and powder coat the colour of choice. As far as porting- depends on how good or bad the original canvas is, there no doubt is low hanging fruit the oem ...

Re: Are the factory refurbished Holley carbs worth getting?
Don't think I could justify buying a boxed product without SOME kind of warranty. 90 day, 6 months, 1 year....Should run out of the box or fail right away.

Re: Are the factory refurbished Holley carbs worth getting?
Buying electronics, I’ve always bought refurbs direct from the manufacturer. Usually you end up with something that is very low use, and has been gone through better than from the factory floor for much cheaper. Depending on how Holley does the refurbs (in house?), it may be the same. I've bought s...

Re: Crank trigger, damper, and pulley stackup
I've installed crank triggers on a pre vortec chev 383 and a toyota 22re, both have the harmonics machined to accept and the toy had some welding done.

Why wouldn't you use 7/16 threaded studs to begin with when the heads aren't installed?

I think there are better windage trays out there than a 100 year old design.

Re: How good were caddy 500's really?
If you can find one, the 96-02 L21 is completely forged internals, coil near plug, should easily go 200,000-250,000 miles. Heavy duty Kodiak trucks etc had these mills in them. Best part is, most were almost smog exempt. No smog pump, depending on year no egr. They did have a catalytic converter an...
