Re: Intake manifold porting

I’ve ported my team g 7532 Mcsa as cast was quite small, iirc 1.9” They have plenty of meat for porting though. I mostly worked the area from just up past the sharp turn, all the way up to the plenum, mostly concentrating on the outside wall. Runners # 4 and 5 needed the most work, as they are the t...

Re: Jetting question

Thanks for all the replies.
I have a 500hp 372 sbc which has a few niggly issues I’m ironing out.
Usually has a demon 850ad on it but I want to put the 650 on for a bit to try and isolate a problem.
650 was previously on a 400hp 360 sbc.

Jetting question

Hi all.
I’m putting a 650DP I’ve had on a 400HP engine onto a 500HP engine.
Do I increase the jets a few sizes?
Cheers

That’s from the manufacture.
That bearing looks quite good.

Re: Nothing like a good head...

You done good, that is a damn fine street engine! There is a mob in enzed working on billet alloy blocks that'll go 250+ cubes. Is it enzed that built a 600 inch SBC motor for sprintboats? Sorry, oz slang, enzed = NZ = New Zealand. If you need a contact for those blocks Tony ring Phil, Tracksport E...

Re: Gains with lift beyond the point of max airflow?

Yes. You’re increasing the time the valve is open at the lifts where the head flows best. And if you do it with a rocker ratio change you’re not increasing the seat duration, so you’re capturing more air and squeezing it harder, if that makes sense, provided the valve train can handle it. If you get...

Re: Rod bolt stretch

Even before talking about that lets talk about what material the bolts are made of and once torqued up this time how many torque up rounds will that be on these bolts? I assume they have atleast 3 torque up sessions on them now, and with most bolts once you get to 5 of those rounds your really play...

If the heads have recently been valve jobbed it’s probably just the valve settling.

Re: Isky rev lube.

Yep that’s my thoughts too. Problem is, the filters I like I only have one left of and another one has to come from US (I’m in NZ). I’ve put a k and n on for running it in, but it’s to fine for racing imo. Really just sounding out to see if anyone’s had a bad experience with that cam lube so I know ...

Isky rev lube.

Just started a new motor.
I’ve used isky rev lube on the flat tappet cam.
Does anyone know whether it tends to gunk up the oil filter though.
Wondering whether to change the filter sooner rather than later.
Pressure is doing exactly what is supposed to (35 at idle, 75 at higher revs hot).
Cheers

Re: Race Engine Challenge intake critique

I think I remember DV saying how the goal with this engine was to show that any engine builder who uses well thought out design and parts selection can put together a combo using all off the shelf parts, minimal R and D and still get a genuine 700HP. He smoked that goal. 😊 More R and D and some cust...

Re: Dart 180 cc alloy head as cast

Are these the platinum heads? The floors of the intake port look nothing like my 14 year old pre platinum. Flow curve looks the same though. Opening up the bowl and pushrod pinch got them up to 270, but still stalling. I’ve since layed the short turn back, widened the top of the short turn a bit and...

Sparksalot wrote: Mon Jun 03, 2019 3:16 am This is likely a lubrication problem. With what and how do you lubricate those valve stems?
But it’s doing it even with a different set of heads. Same valve. Same scenario.

Re: 380 ci sbc bending exhaust valve

I’m wondering whether the engine is building up heat at the back of the head and either the guide clearance lessens, or the valve seat is getting buckled out of shape.
Is the valve kissing the piston?
