It’s gone now. Don’t worry about it. Run it.

Re: Question for the Aussies on here.

Thank you Steve and Tony. Just the 2 guys I was hoping would reply!
Got the plan sorted.
Gonna replace the 81 jets (0.092) with 83s (0.0975) and leave timing as is for a couple of passes, then try adding 2*.
Will be interesting, but at NZ$230 a pail I’m not sure if I’ll be using it every meet.

Re: Question for the Aussies on here.

Cheers steve
That’d be about 4 jet sizes a?
Was there any difference with timing?

Question for the Aussies on here.

Hi all. I’ve scored a pail of MS109 to try. I usually run Mobil or BP 98 octane pump gas. What are the typical differences in tuning? I’m thinking a bit more timing and a few jet sizes bigger?? Am I on the right track? SBC 11:1 550hp n/a Ice ignition at moment, but I can change to a programmable MSD...

Re: 408 SBC OIl Pressure Drops Under Heavy Acceleration

Your problem is pickup positioning and probably pickup to pan distance. Pull the pickup back onto the floor of the pan and make sure the little feet on the pickup are only 1-2mm off the pan. And while you’re at it make sure it has a half decent windage tray.

Re: MSD 6530 timing ramps

I’ve just started experimenting with mine. So far it seems to like a lot of advance at mid rpm’s, then pull a few degrees at peak VE amd ramp them back in afterwards. Would you care to put some numbers to it to give me a little better idea of what you're doing? Sorry for late reply Settled on 40 up...

Re: Intake closing

They never optimised ignition timing on pump fuel, so it’s not a fair comparison

Re: The Top End Retard

I think (top end) timing depends on a few things: Rpm, VE, load. If your engine is well past peak Hp and VE is dropping like a stone, then to me the engine should want more timing, not less. An engine well past peak Hp also has less time to conduct the burn, needing more timing. The timing an engine...

How do you reckon it’d go with the oil temp a bit hotter?

Re: Pro Topline 200cc sbc heads. Anyone had experience?

If the castings check out I’d run them over AFR any day. They were originally developed and made here in NZ by some very good minds. All got a bit blurred when people realised how good they were and I understand quality slipped. Check for casting hardness and core shift. Anything else should be fixa...

Apart from having to run a small base circle, I’d be more concerned with the hardening situation

Re: Connecting rod reconditioning procedure

I like to torque cycle new rod bolts a few times.
With rod bolts you really need to be using a stretch gauge.
Measure, torque, measure, release a few times until they are repeating the same measurement.
Then check big end for spec and out of round, Hone if needed.

Re: Is it normal for a sbc to want over 40 degrees timing?

LX Torana 372 sbc 5200 converter TH350 4.11 gears 26” tyre Yes did 10.6 @ 127 full weight with no head or tail wind. Has gone 10.4 @ 128.9 but that was with less weight in car and a howling tail wind. Best it went full weight previously was I think 10.70@ 125. Things are looking up but man apart fro...
