Re: Edelbrock Torker II

If your going to drag race a C3 Vette you want to go a lot stiffer rear spring then 360. Start thinking 500 to stop squatting.

Re: 327 crank in 400 sbc?

Back before bracket racing lots of weight to cubic inch. A lighter car always a plus, I always wonder why when drag racing why so many people use a heavy pig of a car to do it.

Re: 327 crank in 400 sbc?

So what do you do now for kicks. Buy an aftermarket 4.60 bore block and drop the 348 W crank in it. Lol

Re: 327 crank in 400 sbc?

Back when pro stock was weight to cubic inch. I wonder how well Reher Morison I think it ended up 368 cu. BBC did when they dropped in a 3.25 stroke 348 W crankshaft into a 427 block.

Re: Engine choice for roadster

The gen 1 chevy common as dirt on the ground, the bbc just about as bad to many. The LS engine so many swapped in old cars there now way to common. To me not done much anymore a 392 hemi built to look like the 60s top fuel engines great looking, my second choice would be a 409. If power not a driver...

Re: Lifter bores

Ya the springs were a bit stiffer for valve weight. The old 30/30 cam that was in my 69 Z28 sbc was
485 lift using a 1.5 rocker. A 396/375 or the 427 solid lift bbc only had
.520 lift using a 1.7 rocker. So the bbc with its bigger base circle cam, tbe cam itself was milder in lobe lift.

Re: Lifter bores

I would assume the 1.7 ratio rocker along with the slightly stiffer needed valve springs for the heavy valves( compared to sbc ) then lifters pushing on pushrods angled out of them at 4 degrees, all contributing to more cam failure problems then sbc.

Re: Did the SBC 406" die with BigJoe1 ??

One way or the other i have to have good machine work done. Only thing i know for sure would want at least .060 over bore. I assume y...
