Re: SAM's SB2 At The EMC And The REC

How quickly a thread can go off the rails! I posted what I thought was interesting how little power was lost when going from what most would consider the not street-able 2011 EMC rules and the more street-able 2019 REC rules. Not many comments about those results. The comment about how many dyno pul...

Re: SAM's SB2 At The EMC And The REC

Although what is considered street able is subjective, the interesting point (to me anyway) of my original post and now showing that going from what was the 2011 EMC Xtreme Street rules to the more street able 2019 REC rules on the same engine only lost approximately 28-32 HP (3.7%) and only approxi...

Re: SAM's SB2 At The EMC And The REC

Correction: It was 2011 when they came in second. They won with that engine in 2012 when the RPM was upped to 8,000 RPM.

SAM's SB2 At The EMC And The REC

Here's the pop quiz for the week: The School Of Automotive Machinist (SAM) came in a close second at the 2012 EMC with their 402 cu in SB2 in the Xtreme Street class. The same engine was entered in the Race Engine Challenge (REC) in 2019 with only the following differences: * The 2012 EMC engine had...

Re: Race Engine Challenge Cancelled Due to Virus

We do have a hand full of past competitors that want to participate in the dyno gathering and it looks like we could make room for another engine or two. No engine rules have to be meet and it would be a great way to dyno test/breal-in an engine. You certainly could tap into all the talent that will...

Re: Race Engine Challenge Cancelled Due to Virus

So far it is just loose talk among friends and some past competitors. Whatever it is, it will be less than what is
normally charged to put an engine on a dyno.
We’ll just have to wait and see what the world looks like this fall.

Race Engine Challenge Cancelled Due to Virus

We felt this was the right thing to due given this uncertain world. If later this year the world gets back to normal,
several of our competitors want to have a “dyno party” over a weekend. This would be dyno some engines, drink some
beer and have some fun. We^ll see...

Re: "Masters Of Motors" class rules released

That was one of my questions. Sure would be nice to have someone answering the questions so that those of us contemplating a build could order pistons, oil pans, headers, etc. Several issues with the rules need to be clarified. Joe-71 We could make room for another SBC or SBF in our Classic Rivals ...

Re: Engine Masters gone

I think you'd have far, far more interest and coverage if the challenge covered more than just antiquated pushrod engines. Get the Honda guys involved, get Coyote's in there, Nissan VQs, Lexus V8s, etc. The aftermarket is much bigger than just the pushrod engine. We would really like to have a 4V c...

Re: 6800 rpm 421 SBC Combo

Helping a buddy piece together a 421 street/strip SBC combo. He likes the AFR 220 heads, as they can use standard rockers. He has a Dart block, good rotating assembly, carb, intake, headers, exhaust, etc. Main thing he is stuck on is the cam/valvetrain. He is open to solid flat tappet, hydraulic ro...

Re: Tech Rules For The 2020 REC Dyno Contest

Hi Greg I'm based in Australia and would love to try and compete in the competition with an Australian based Holden engine , I put this to the organizers of engine masters 2 years ago for the iron headed class but never got a response, could you let me know if an entry would be considered with this...

Re: 2020 Rules For The Race Engine Challenge

The rules for the 2020 REC will be released on-line and printed copies available at the Engine Builder magazine and Jones Cams booths at the time of the PRI show. In addition to a few tweaks to the two existing classes, we are adding a third class: a hint, the classic rivalry of Chevy vs Ford vs Mo...
