Re: Hydraulic roller lifters for Pontiac... Hydraulic Cartridge Technology

I am afraid of anything that is "latest and greatest" from Comp. I see what they are trying to do with the little description provided, but I am not convinced yet.....

Hydraulic roller lifters for Pontiac... Hydraulic Cartridge Technology

I was going to go with the usual Morel 5884 and grind a slot for full time oiling to the band, and then my customer tells me he wants to run a set of Comp 85701-16 lifters with this new HCT technology. Can anyone please enlighten me here as to what this HCT is all about?

Re: Filling blocks

I worked on a pulling tractor head that was filled with bronze. Worked well and was able to turn the diesel ports into blown alky ports!! I imagine they had had to pre head the head to a glow before they poured in the bronze.

Re: Source for small qty. of metal stitch pins...

If you want to do the repair on the cheap with the tapered pins vs using the locknstitch, just spin up a couple solid freeze plugs on the lathe out of 1018 or something soft, but steel or cast iron material.
