Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller

You have a great baseline to work with. I would like to see the 5.29 gears in the car again and let the converter do the work on the top end.

Re: Engine Diagnosis

Does the HEI have the coil in the cap or is he using an external mounted coil ?

Re: What coil?

This Ford style coil is also very good and works well with msd 6 style ignition. You have to make a bracket for it and buy the pigtail but for the price it’s great.

Re: What coil?

I agree with the post above. I’we had great results with this Blaster SS coil with 12:1 engine. 36 nitrous jet in a fogger and up to 8000 rpm.

Bullet is bad about answering their recommendation form. I would contact Mike Jones (camking) here on speedtalk. He has a great customer service and offers quality parts. It’s well worth the little extra coin spent

Re: Sportsman II heads on a mild 350

This sounds like a fun combination. What’s the rest of the combo ? Weight of the car, Gearing, transmission and converter ? With up to 250 hp shot of nitrous I would run a single plane like Victor JR. Btw. What nitrous system is he using ? I’we seen some nitrous systems advertised up to 250 hp shot ...

I weighed the retainers today out of curiosity. The Titanium vas 42% lighter at 18 grams vs the AFR retainer at 31 gram. That should help :)

Re: Valve spring pressure ?

Combo with the titanium retainers i have and an .810” i/d locator seems to be decent. The springs are very tight fit together I cant even push them completely apart. The springs go to bind at 1.270” in the wise with this combo. And the spring measured exactly as turbobuick said. They look like a ni...

Re: Valve spring pressure ?

Looking at the specs of the spring that Turbobuick6 listed, I might try to find a locator closer to the i.d. of the spring. Spring i.d. .806, locator listed for those heads .780. I have seen a lot worse but .026 is getting loose. I try to stay .010 or under just to keep things from dancing around. ...

Re: Valve spring pressure ?

Sounds like those heads came with the AFR spring #8000. Those should be enough for what you are trying to do. If you are nervous about those springs, the PAC-1386 or 1243 would be good candidates that will fit the current hardware. You’re correct. They are the AFR 8000 springs. How far away from co...
