Re: Fuel pump questions (big block street car)

I think the .040 will be fine. A lot of guys use .032 not sure why but seems to work.

Re: Cutting seats with Neway cutters - 1st experience

I used them for years on German imports, worked great. One place I worked for had an electric drive for it which was really nice.

Re: Fuel pump questions (big block street car)

“I used to have a mechanical pump dead headed to the carb, and I was boiling the fuel. I am wondering if I go back to a mechanical pump, and add a restrictor in the return line if that would be sufficient to prevent the fuel from boiling?“

I would go this route. Very reliable and quiet.

Thanks RP930.
I have the stuff to move the filter to the pressure side of the pump. That’s what I plan on doing even though the filter rep says it won’t matter.
I think you will be better off. Good luck. Love a fast boat.

Re: Fuel system architecture question (mechanical pump / filter)

I think 3 micron is way too restrictive on the suction side. That’s the same filter they use on all the high end Merc racing boats and several desert race trucks (Baja 1000) according to the FST rep. The filter will flow over 300 gallons an hour due to the large surface area. This is according to F...

Re: holley high idle

choke the carb with your hands, if it still idles, you have an air leak somewhere....and yes, get rid of the holes in the butterflies unless you have some monster cam. Might also be time to look at putting weights back in the distributor and ramping the timing if all the other ideas don't work to b...

Like somebody else here said Ford V8. They are fairly narrow. A nice 5.0 with the 5 speed would be great fun. Or auto.
