Re: Stumped with backfire from carburator

Does anyone else see some detonation flecks on those plugs in the last photo? And does the strap look like maybe there's too much timing?

Re: An Interesting 'Q&A'

Is Nolan Jamora Jumbo's son or grandson, or some other relation? They look a lot alike.

Jumbo used to race at Lions in the mid 60's and had a badass Chevelle.

Re: Pressure in radiator after engine is totally cool

Drain the system and refill with distilled water. I'll bet the "problem" goes away.

Bore scope?

I need to buy a bore scope, but don't want to spend a ton of money, maybe $3-400 range. Could y'all give me some opinions?

Thank You all in advance

Re: What's going on here? SBC rocker alignement.

I'm thinking that the width between the self aligning "nubs" is much wider than the valve stem. If that's the case, the guide plates are likely a better way to go. Just a guess without seeing them in person.

Re: a good performance coil?

After having crappy luck with MSD coils, a friend suggested this one from Summit https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tay-718222/overview/

Not one problem since.

Re: shim in back side of connecting rod bearing?

My mother grew up on a farm in Iowa, 1920's. She said her Dad would use raw pork rind to repair loose bearings in the tractor they had. I'm guessing it was like gristle.

I'm of the school that thinks a little less gap is better than a little more gap.

Re: Dart SHP Oiling problem

I've built a couple with SHP blocks, no problem. Is there any chance the rear galley plugs are in too deep?

A stab in the dark.

Re: Solid Flat Tappet Cam in Dart SHP Block

I have Comp face oiling solid lifters in my SHP block. Lifter holes at .0015 clearance. Just under 5000 miles at present with zero problems. I use Brad Penn semi synthetic 10-40 oil with 6oz. Oil Extreme additive in each oil change. 125 lbs seat 325 over the nose.

Re: Sbc oil pump problem / noise

Is there any chance that the shaft or shafts are not concentric to the gear OD? Or could the shafts not be parallel to the gears?
