Re: Valve spring for a steet car.

Comp 919 will also fit. They are close to half the cost, are they a gamble?

Valve spring for a steet car.

What valve spring would you run on a street car for reliability? SBC with 126 gram intake valve and a Lunati 255/264 @50 .665 lift with 1.6 rockers. Lunati said 74650-16. 235lb on seat and 587 open with 503lb/inch rate.

Re: Mill cylinder head/seat work without pilot

It's funny no one had mentioned grinding the seats. I was a professional engine builder for over 20 years. I ground my seats with Sioux stones for most of it. I would then hand lap every valve after. I was able to run a VGS-20 for a short time while helping out a buddy who still builds high end engi...

I know nothing about the proform and cannot offer an opinion. It's still a good chunk of change. I'm considering buying this one. This is about the nicest looking vise I've seen. http://members.shaw.ca/geezero/pistonvise.html I have one. it is a bit fiddley to set up, but once set seems okay. Hi Bo...

OK OK I'll start looking for a dodge truck and dump that old Chevy 1 ton.
What are your opinions between the 12 and 24 valve versions?

I have not been impressed by any diesel I have driven. I drove a 03 duramax last weak that made me puke. It had serious turbo lag. Throttle response was non existent. By the time the compressor fills all the intake tract as well as the intercooler, it's over. This also caused the cruse control to wo...

How would you build a 632 bbc tow engine

I would like suggestions as to building a 632 tow engine?
towing load will be around 10000 for trailer and 7000 lb for truck.
I would like to see peak torque around 2800 rpm.

Believe it or not, I just built a 427 SBC without grinding a thing using the following components. 9.025 deck, std cam bore aluminum Motown block, Callies Compstar crank and rods with a .900 base cam. The cam has 278/284 duration with a .450 lobe. http://www.worldcastings.com/prods_pages/86110.htm h...

Head bolt size

Does anyone here know the thread size and pitch of the viper V10 head bolts? I have to build a torque plate for a friend and he's out of town for a few days.

Yes Strain Magic, it is unique. This is why many have come from far, to test.
This also contributed to the reason we were the first to run 1 second under, in comp.

The engine dyno in our shop will measure these gains, as it measures acceleration not torque.
The dyno's fabricator had seen gains of 8hp per 100 grams of bob weight reduction years ago. His testing was over 20 years ago.
