Re: Plenum volume Indy t ram

Bill Jenkins said that the plenum volume (SBC probably TR1) that gave the best dyno power was always too large to launch the car. For best ET, deduct 10% volume with a stuffer (wood block contoured to match the floor, height to make the volume you want, varnished). Since the visual is untouched, als...

Re: KB hypereutectic pistons

recuperating parts doubles with every 1000 rpm

Reciprocating load (piston, rings, pin, locks, rod small end, etc.) ~ with the RPM^2.
6,000 > 7,000 is not doubled, but +36%, etc.

Re: Question for the BBF guys......

What clears in a static test may have insufficient "ringing" clearance, where the head oscillates radially enough to make contact.
Radial clearance varies with length of stem to guide, stem-to-head radius, stem diameter; worst is 6mm stem lifting .700" with 3/8" radius, etc.

Re: CFM of intake round tubing per sq in

I have in my notes a comment from the net that the surface flow is nearly zero, and at a depth of 1mm from the wall it's nearly 100% (using air @ STP), and in between the flow was nearly proportionate. The idea was to deduct 1mm from the ID to get a rough guess.
Anyone read this?

Re: CFM of intake round tubing per sq in

CFM flow per square inch area will not be linear and directly proportionate due to Poiseville flow, also varying with fluid viscosity.

Re: DIY Cubic Inch Checker / Whistler

A probe in the plug hole will work directly (1:1 ratio) to the stroke length if the plug thread is exactly vertical (parallel to the bore axis). Angles less than 8 degrees reduce the error to 1% or less., Yes, difficult to get a level and a protractor on there. If you have an excellent blueprint of ...

Who has a larger budget, manufacturing capability, name recognition, and customer base: you, or Edelbrock?
Trust me, if it's not already being done there is either
1. no market for it
2. no return on investment
3. both

Re: IHC V8 heads

If they're shaft-mounted rocker arms, they can only incline in one plane (across the chamber), like the poly engines and Chevrolet Gen-2 L6 216, 235, 261.
Stud mount (like BBC) allow both planes inclined.
