Re: another blown up jetboat motor sbc

I had a good look at the plugs from the cylinders that were not damaged and there was definitely lean signs. Since the engine stopped right after running at this point it clearly showed lean. the photo is after I sprayed the oil off with brake clean Previous plug checks were after a cool down or lo...

Re: Any Horse Power to be Gained?

Stand on the scale and weigh yourself, 9 times out of 10 people can afford to shed some weight... Going on a diet and exercising might make a bit more difference than the weight of a piston pin, just saying... :D :D it might even make more power with a heavier pin if it made the piston more stable ...

Re: Undercut vs straight stem valves

When I done my cast iron 165cc dart heads I had no test valves at the time. I had a set of undercut stem exhaust valves and had a hell of a time with severe turbulence, I am not saying it was the valves but after I purchased about 30 individual test valves I found that on the dart 180cc heads with ...

Re: Bench Data

Chad, Many of the fast Chevy Super Stock cylinder heads have been ported and epoxied into an oval intake port. The first Heads-Up, Dave Layer, cylinder heads I took a look at in the early 1980's, had oval port heads and the car was a record holder in its class. Every Super Stock head that I do is o...

Re: Gen 3 950 dominator

If it is a single plane intake you should see the same response from both sides of the carb. As far as the secondary idle, just set the primary t-slot exposure and use the secondary to set idle speed. As long as they don't get overexposed, at that point you would add idle bypass air. Jmark I’m this...

Re: 1000 Hp 632 for street - possible or no?

I would sell those heads and start with an AFR 385 head. That would achieve those numbers with right cam and compression

Re: 600 HP 350 SBC?

The floor is crazy fast as well. 400+ straight across. No material for more bowl. You basically relying on the shape of the SSR to handle the airspeed. They run out of volume and the flow curve is the same from .600-up. Maybe gains 1-2 cfm, but for sure doesn't drop or go backwards Thanks Chad Is p...

Re: 600 HP 350 SBC?

All classes allow the Dart to replace the 041 type head. World Products has a legal head as well. The aluminum is certain classes, then of those, certain classes can run angle plug. No matter what, they get hit with added weight to run an aftermarket legal head. Most of the OEM port volumes have to...

Re: 600 HP 350 SBC?

Imagine what could be done if you allowed them a 200cc limit... They wouldn't have to mill the intake faces down so much.... I was thinking if this was done to shorten port up to allow for more material The photo that chad posted in this thread looks like there is .200” cut of the decks of block Ch...

Re: 600 HP 350 SBC?

No, NHRA legal Super Stocker Oh so yeah...expensive bracket racing with a slight twist then. #-o Bracket racing with engine rules. Backbone of the sport, IMO. Super Stock is the best class in racing. 172cc head, flows 250 and they make 660+.. Efficiency. Guys need to study and learn. That’s off the...

Re: 600 HP 350 SBC?

I have built several 355-358” sbc with sportsman 2 cast heads that have made 640-660 hp it’s a lot of effort and attention to detail. But is certainly achievable

Re: ANOTHER SBC STROKER QUESTION 377-

I think what gets lost in the seat debate is the steeper seat "pulls" harder on the port. So if you have a localized velocity issue, your making it worse. And if you didn't have any issues, you might have just created one. Nothing wrong with steep seats, if it is designed or ported to them. I think...
