Re: Best oil for 6.7 Cummins

Does your EGR valve work as per factory or has it mysteriously been blocked up with a "blank gasket" ? No I was told that will throw fault codes. It’s an Isuzu Dmax I had ecu re mapped they told me it will reduce EGR activity but NOT eliminate it. I’m all ears if you know ways around it Ah , ...

Re: Best oil for 6.7 Cummins

Wow. Thanks Graig. Interesting I have been using delvac MX or Cat DEO in my light common rail engines. But I change it at 8000km. I hate black oil. Lol and it’s cheap Does your EGR valve work as per factory or has it mysteriously been blocked up with a "blank gasket" ? No I was told that will...

Re: Best oil for 6.7 Cummins

I have had better results in my big diesels with Delvac...better oil samples with higher TBN numbers after a 50,000 mile oil change interval. Lucas and Schaeffer are very good, too. Rotella always fell short. Are you referring to delvac 1 full synthetic? 50000 is a long time for oil to be in an eng...

Re: Rod bearing wear

I have seen similar wear patterns with some cheap Chinese cranks that may have had excess polishing to cover up a poor ground finish that is not flat.
Your bearing does not look to be that bad. But maybe have pins precision ground next rebuild

Re: Gasser Cam

Over the years I have run many sets of Isky plus springs with flat tappets over 7000rpm. And a lot are miles from coil bind .150” or more. And I have never had any issues My thoughts were maybe the limited velocity of the flat tappet design didn’t worry or upset the spring even when it’s set up a lo...

Lash ramps for solid cams

Let’s talk about different ramp designs for solid cams A lot of people talk about tightening lash right down to help solid roller lifter life on rollers cams for street use I have heard that there are different designs in how the lash ramps can work. Constant velocity etc. I know for example the old...

Re: when are 3/4 grooved main bearings needed for bbc ?

Warp, there has to be a feed hole in the block that lines up with the oil feed hole in the main journal. That needs to happen at about 70 degrees ATDC. You can't move the oil hole in the crank very much. So the feed hole in the block needs to be in a location so that the feed hole in the block line...

Re: when are 3/4 grooved main bearings needed for bbc ?

In what case would a full groove be warranted, and how is it gonna fix a poor design? What oil "timing issue" is it going to fix? Ever played with stock ford cleveland cranks? Why the hell would I, or anyone for that matter really?!? You can always fit this type of thing to some inefficient p...

Re: Dual pattern cams in towing applications

Increasing the exhaust duration can reduce temp in the cylinder, but will also reduce pressure, and power at lower RPM's. For a towing application, where power below peak is more important then power past peak, increasing the exhaust duration is the wrong way to go. If the engine has to pass a smog...
