Re: Valve lift vs. port flow and cam selection

Whats wonky about the valvetrain? Doesnt it have shaft rockers? In my opinion which isnt worth much, You want to run as much valve lift as you can for the duration you end up with. Use good components to make it last. If your having issues loosing lift maybe you want to use 7/16, or even 1/2" pushr...

Re: Pushrods

One piece pushrods are generally more expensive than the 3 piece pushrods with the pressed in ends. Besides that it is probably more of a brand thing for the price to vary. I don't use the 3 piece pushrods for mechanical cams as I have found them to chip the ends in this application.

More than likely they will be stainless for a marine engine.

Wouldn't it be better to go straight to the source and call MSD and ask them?

Re: Angle milling

Thanks Bill,
I thought it was something along those lines but at the revs those guys were pulling the angle seemed too much. Interesting how they have done each one differently for each inlet port. Got to wonder if they developed them that way or if it was just guesswork.

Re: Angle milling

Looks like it has been high ported on the exhaust side.

Those vanes bolted in the inlet ports are interesting. Does anyone know the reasoning behind that?

Re: mahle piston failure

I would also look for symptoms of the top ring butting.(shiny ends, etc.) If the rings are butting then the weakest part of the piston will break first.

Re: Sunnen Dial Bore gauge

Dave. There is a new looking retractable .0001" gauge coming up for auction on November 12 . It looks good in the photo. Why can't you post the list [ file] here so people at least know what is for sale?

Huge guessing game otherwise.

Re: New pistons 73g heavier

No sending them back I've already had .070" machined off the top as I said the H rods that I have don't suit any OTS piston for a 393 stroker Cleveland so I'm using 408 pistons mqchined to suit I thought the Bob weight was at 50% so it's one pistons weight not two but I'm not sure Did you have the ...
