Re: Another reason not to buy Speedmaster shit

Being in the engine business for 20 years plus I have became angry with summit and jegs. They are cut throat and only want to sell parts to the general public. I no longer allow carry in internal parts. I order them or i dont work on the piece. This Speedmaster junk is a perfect example. I was block...

Re: Sbc Dart SHP rear main leaks

Try this, cut a .010” or .015” thick out of bulk gasket paper just narrow enough to fit behind the seal on both halves the full length of the seal. Putting more press on the seal. Line up the parting lines directly at the main cap, use light amount of silicone behind the seal.

Re: Inexpensive 350 Build

Some of you guys are missing the point of this build. Sometimes of run what you have in front of you approach can be fun. Who cares if it has thick rings, stellar machine work, a good combination, head work and whacking and cutting on the parts you have will still be impressive in the end.

Dart little m2 sbc oil restrictors

Just a double check. Old original Dart Little m sbc billet cap block I an using a .050” drilled 1/4” npt plug in all 4 corners of the lifter valley oil feed. Now the new Dart little m2 block if you plug the front of the left side lifter gallery it forces oil to the center crossover in the valley. Yo...

Re: LS Valve weight VS spring pressure

You need Ti valves and a solid lifter. It might be dependable with a solid lifter and stainless valves. You cant expect to control the valvetrain at 8000 with heavy valves and a hydraulic lifter. It wont follow the cam profile very well. 7000 rpm would be probably fine.

Re: Custom pistons or zero deck the block with off-the-shelf pistons?

If you are planning on 600 for a set of pistons, customs are not an option. pick a shelf piston that will work for you. .005” off the decks is not an option if decking correctly with a bhj. It will take more. choose a ready available.040” felpro head gasket, square deck the block for .005” in the ho...

my advice. Hire vortecpro. he is close to you and has a no nonsense approach to his builds. Tell him what your goals are and let him decide how to get there.

Re: Do you HONE your k-lines, or just "broach" to size, OPINOINS please

From my experience, I broach the liner shooting for .001 undersize of the valve stem with whatever size ball you need, leave the k line actually stick up out of the top of the guide. It helps from allowing the seam of the liner to flip on top of the other. Trim it after all the honing with a Sunnen ...

What altitudes will it be used at ?

If your air intake is under bonnet 10 to 1.

Iron headed ? 11 to 1 with a good insulated cold air intake and a high pressure cooling system.

Re: Opinions on max Bbc compression

for a regular customer, the max I would shoot for would normally be 9.5 to 1. My gut tells me for an every day street motor that you can keep in tune 10 to 1 would be what I would shoot for 10.25 to 1 max. But I want to see what others opinions are.
