Re: Nitrous plugs
Geez. How much nitrous was he throwing at it? I haven't personally ran nitrous yet but I think I would use a colder and dedicated nitrous plug.

Re: Best GM Vortec intake manifold gaskets?
Funny that I just found this. Just replaced my gaskets with the Fel-Pro 1255 and used black rtv on the china walls. I have a 97 vortec converted to carb installed in my 86 Chevy truck. Couldn't figure out the miss I had , water in the oil and why the china walls were leaking oil. I installed the eng...

Re: HEI power supply.
On my 69 Chevy pickup , I just found a hot wire in run (I think pink ) coming out of the ignition switch and spliced into it. I drove it for about 5 yrs, sold it to a buddy who drove it 10 or so years. No issues. This was approx. 25 yrs ago , hence the trouble remembering the wire color.

Re: Are thin piston rings worth horsepower?
Im also interested about this subject. Speaking strictly about street engines, with 6000rpm limit, and 350-400hp from 350-383cui engine. How much in reality we are looking to lose with the old 5/64 ring-pack compared to modern thin ring? Especially at the 2000-3000rpm range where many street engine...

Re: Brake rotor thickness
Probably the truck and van rotors are 1.25" thick whereas the A/F/X ones are 1" thick. You might be interested in my, "pdqCBB", four wheel disc brake conversion I put on my '67 Camaro. 13" dia. late '80's 'Vette front rotors and 11.75" dia. Camaro rear rotors all on ho...

Re: Brake rotor thickness
Re you doner discs, the big GM wagons I've worked with all had bigger rotors than the sedans, with 5" vs. 4.75" BCs... These are 4.75. Regardless , my memory is horrible , so I checked them again and they are only 1" thick. I'm guessing that I confused them for my truck rotors. I dun...

Re: Low Mileage SBC Minor Rebuild: What to do?
Put the original engine in a bigass plastic bag. Oil the cylinders and the original stampings on the deck surface. Vacuum the air out of the bag just after tossing in a few desiccant packs, and tie the bag SECURELY shut. Stuff it under the workbench in your garage for "later". Build or bu...

Brake rotor thickness
I have a 70 Nova with drum brakes. I bought a disc brake setup off a guy that said id came from a 72 Olds Vista Cruiser. I know its a straight bolt up except for the steering arms. My actual question , is- the Olds rotors are 1 1/4" thick versus 1" thick. I there anything to be gained by u...
