Rad Fan Controller Terminals

Planning to build an electric water pump installation on the project car, have ID'd an engine fan controller which should serve for the load but need info on the terminal layout. It's original equipment on Chryslers from 2004-2007, possibly more. Example: Standard Motor Products RY446. Any help here...

Mine's to spin at 5/8 crank speed, engine not buzzing much beyond 7k.

Cheers

Re: Serpentine Oil Pump Drive?

Right on the money, that reply. The requirement for drive ratio reduction occurred to me after posting and I recall there's very limited clearance to chassis where the pump pulley must be.

Serpentine Oil Pump Drive?

Project looming this Spring is a custom drive layout for a sports car with inline 4 banger and dry sump system. A street toy which will be wound not far north of 7k from time to time. Pondering whether that oil pump, 1 pressure and 2 scavenge stages, could safely tie in with the proposed accessory d...

Re: Deutsch Connector Tips

That Aptiv/Delphi looks much like the German tool I've got on loan, and that does a good job except when working with the lighter gauge wire when it is necessary to further crimp using a cheap stripper/crimper in order to make a secure connection. Likely the tool should have a different sized anvil ...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?

Are we reckoning with 240vac in this nasty discussion? Belgian 1979 lives in Belgium, where that is the case. In case it helps . . .

Re: Deutsch Connector Tips

Both of the loaner crimpers I have are for open contacts, the GizWiz and iCrimp are for closed barrel. I have done enough work building the largely new harness for my project toy so as to become quite handy. Either type will produce a good crimp if executed correctly. Lately working on the ECU harne...

Re: Deutsch Connector Tips

Thanks. I agree that weatherproofing has to be paramount, looking at heat shrink boots for the engine end. For the broad range of routine crimps I've got 2 loaners from a hockey buddy who's a mechanic. I'll attach links for 2 closed barrel tools purchased cheap through Amazon. The GizWiz unit is goo...

Re: Deutsch Connector Tips

Hey Kevin. I'll soon take delivery of some 3 conductor shielded Tefzel for the crank and cam position sensors plus the TPS. Need to decide whether gold plated terminals are needed for the engine end connectors. What do you think? I've gotten on top of the Deutsch connector assembly procedure quite e...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?

Could not give a toss for E powered race cars, just doesn't entertain to any extent like what ICE power does. Professional sports of all types are entertainment products above all, the regulating bodies diminish the fun factor at great peril to the survival of their rackets. I'll take a solid grid o...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?

Kevin, your power shortage issues are provincial, not federal and the climate action posture of the Canadian feds has little if anything to do with Alberta's current troubles.

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?

True points SkinnyZ. Setting aside the issues specific to EV's it may also be that our infrastructures are overdue for expansion due to both advancing technology and increasing population.

Re: Deutsch Connector Tips

Yes, the Deutsch connectors are altogether fine. That linked site certainly is excellent, it's been my go-to for the work since Dannobee first shared it.

Thanks chaps!

Re: Port Injection Strategies Paper: Key Takeaways on Open Valve Injection?

It's a Lotus 2.2 16 valve engine, no more than 100 HP/l and running on the street. Just now completing the engine bay wiring so must choose injector connectors.

Cheers
