Re: Can I make a 335 out of my 307 ?
Check jeep 4.0 pistons. ( 3.935 bore) Comp height is 1.353, on 350 crank rods will be at 5.9". From memory, did look at it a long time ago.
Chevy 250 inline 6 pistons is a tad lower on comp height, but works with the 307 crank. Still gonna be a 307.

Re: Blow by- bad honing?
194 used rope type seals. Over the years the rope wears the crank and there is a wide-ish groove, so rope eliminator seals is not gonna seal properly. I have a 230 and a 250 crank with the same issue, here the rope seal was used almost to the end of production run. Easiest solution is to use a rope ...

Re: Blow by- bad honing?
CF, they were the o-ring type installed by machine shop. I am unsure of the size. Reason i'm asking is it could be the cause of the oil in the intake. One of those cases of ask me how i know  Many shops gets the correct way of assembly wrong. Look inside the spring, if the seals is on the stem...

I must apologize and correct myself.chevyfreak wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 10:59 am The 194 inline 6 uses same pistons as the 265 v8 from 50s.

Sorry for (my) the confusion. The 265 sbc pistons actually matches the 215 inline six that pontiac used. The 194 has a smaller bore, only same comp height.

Re: Blow by- bad honing?
The 194 inline 6 uses same pistons as the 265 v8 from 50s. Pistons is hard to get. Next size up is the 215 that was used by pontiac but bore is to big to go from the 194 to 215. 194 had rope type rear main seal, here in south africa our chevy inlines used rope seals up until the 1980s, 230s and the ...

No expert on carter carbs. Sounds alot like fuel pressure is overcoming needle and seat. Or float chamber vent to atmoaphere blocked.

Re: Supercharger Identification
I have a 4-71 that came off a detroit.
Changed seals and went sealed bearings after the clean up.
And convert the front gear cover for oil containment for gears. Got some gilmer pulleys to use.
Still need to make a snout setup as i want to use it on a 250 chevy inline 6.

Re: Supercharger Identification
My initial thought was that they were from a compressor. Would that follow from your Detroit 4-53 assesment? From the blackness on the rotors i would say on a diesel unit, and some oil leaking past the seals. And the color as well. The detroit v motors used those colors and with the double ribs. Ch...

Looks alot like a 4v53 detroit.
Chevyfreak.
Edit.
Upon checking google quickly it could also be 6v53 or a 8v92.

Making the competition waste time, money, effort, and enthusiasm trying to reverse-engineer the thing, when they'd be better-off dealing with their own combination rather than monkey-see-monkey-do with your stuff. I'm not in competition with anyone, nor challenged anyone on this forum. I asked a qu...
