Re: Looking for a Flowbench Shop in the Southeast

We have both a SF600 and a SF1020. We did a bunch of Viper stuff back 2012-2014 I even still have cnc port programs we did on our 5 axis cnc for Gen1,2 and 3 vipers. Little dated now but...

Re: Shout out to Mike Jones!

A 55 mm tool steel cam, .904 lifters and Jesel shaft rockers is an excellent valvetrain for SS, especially with a wedge. Nice car and combination. Should be fast. You running GT/FA? Yes GT/FA Rob at Jesel talked me out of steel rockers for this. He wanted me to use the solid body aluminum. So that ...

Re: Re:

Thanks guys. I own the snap on band/plier style: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?store=snapon-store&item_ID=11811&group_ID=1593 but it did'nt seem to have enough squeeze at the end or the band to keep the rings in tight as they exit the tool. I really like the simplicity of the tape...

Re: ring compressor for .043" napier???

I'm sure it does to some small degree BUT when fully tight I doubt it's a problem. We have way more solid ones. The thinner the ring pack
( .022 x .090 ) stuff I prefer the solid.

His son Bill Pink's shop is just up the road from me . He and I was just talking few days ago about his time working in that shop with his dad. Cool stories.

Re: Lobe Intensity vs Durability

Not taken that way in the least and it's all appreciated. As for the difficulty, it's plain to see. Despite the science and the math that goes into a given design, I think too it often comes down to how it performs (thank you Captain Obvious!). Even with all of the cyphering, you just won't know un...

Re: Lobe Intensity vs Durability

It will. As I mentioned those are Jones' profiles. I have to rely on the experience of others unlike the petroleum engineer come camshaft grinder who did it all. Some off the shelf lobes are bound to suit my modest goals but as any hot rodder, I don't want to leave something on the table if there's...

Re: Lobe Intensity vs Durability

From my spintron experience ( we own 2 ) the problem is EVERYTHING affects everything in a dynamic state. Sim's can help with understanding but real world most always shows unwanted compliance or deflection that was never figured into a sim program. The results very AND are always changing with rpm...

Re: Too much valvespring?

Can too much valvespring seat and open pressure cause valvetrain instability? I assume yes from increased deflection but do you think this is too much for this application? I like to think i have more pressure than needed but certainly not enough to cause issues 555” BBC. 2.300” stainless intake va...

Re: Flow Bench Fixture Bore Size Differences

https://www.castheads.com/equipment-too ... ing-stand/

The slider bore size controls the bore diameter for the first 1" off the cylinder head deck. Below that the cylinder size selected has very little affect on shrouding.
