Re: Lobe Intensity vs Durability

Not taken that way in the least and it's all appreciated. As for the difficulty, it's plain to see. Despite the science and the math that goes into a given design, I think too it often comes down to how it performs (thank you Captain Obvious!). Even with all of the cyphering, you just won't know un...

Re: Lobe Intensity vs Durability

It will. As I mentioned those are Jones' profiles. I have to rely on the experience of others unlike the petroleum engineer come camshaft grinder who did it all. Some off the shelf lobes are bound to suit my modest goals but as any hot rodder, I don't want to leave something on the table if there's...

Re: Lobe Intensity vs Durability

From my spintron experience ( we own 2 ) the problem is EVERYTHING affects everything in a dynamic state. Sim's can help with understanding but real world most always shows unwanted compliance or deflection that was never figured into a sim program. The results very AND are always changing with rpm...

Blower is completely different then turbo when it comes to cam.

Re: Too much valvespring?

Can too much valvespring seat and open pressure cause valvetrain instability? I assume yes from increased deflection but do you think this is too much for this application? I like to think i have more pressure than needed but certainly not enough to cause issues 555” BBC. 2.300” stainless intake va...

The slider bore size controls the bore diameter for the first 1" off the cylinder head deck. Below that the cylinder size selected has very little affect on shrouding.

Re: Flow Bench Fixture Bore Size Differences

If your using the Brzezinski head slider the bore sleeve will have very little affect because the slider acts as the bore against the head.

Re: 1970's Chevy NASCAR engine

A good friend of mine ( lost him last year RIP Dave ) Dave Vaseleniuck was very involved in the first ever 358 run in nascar. Told me many stories about developing it. He did all of Davy Allison engines, development for Roger Penske, etc..

Re: Spintron

Ben does a great job explaining things I have been preaching for years. He has taken a different look into testing and I'm excited to see what it brings.
