Re: LS7 valve guide wear.

I did a test on a hub dyno once chasing a potentially valvetrain related problem. Ls3 architecture, basic Gm ls7 lifters etc psi beehive, 7200rpm max 1/4 turn preload on the lifters - noisy valvetrain. Next, half of the lifters travel taken up - mouse quiet valve train, identical power output Next, ...

Correct, the diagram just doesn’t show the barbell in place 👍

Re: Undersize LS rod pins

Jed, Not concerned about the strength of a std crank at that level. Plenty been turned harder and sprayed as well. It’s only if I weaken it by small journals and fillet radius, is my concern. CGT, Yep... I’m all about the use what ya got, gets you into trouble sometimes but #-o Yes they have a littl...

Re: Undersize LS rod pins

Nothing wrong with it, yours is one of many examples that’s lived no problem! It’s just uncharted territory for me, and I don’t want to be stripping it apart again. Yup factory nodular. Over here a set of compstar rods runs about $1200, Oliver’s over double that. So yeah grinding 4 journals is consi...

Undersize LS rod pins

Factory gm LS crank, street/strip bracket racer. 8000-8200 shift rpm  Got a nice set of used Oliver standard light rods I’m contemplating using, problem is they’re for 2.0” rod pins, not 2.1”. Straight forward, grind the journals down. But what about the fillet radius? Rolled fillets will be g...

Now I think about it mine might actually be a 82*, most of it disappears after blending anyways,

Re: Aluminum 5.3 lost oil pressure thoughts?

The relief valve is pre the oil filter so has not much effect, debris and metal from a dead lifter will stick them up.
Not familiar with the pan on that engine but some ls2 and our VE commodore onwards have a second relief valve in the pan. 👍

Re: LSX Cathedral port valve job info

They like a steep angle below the 45* seat I’ve found. Say a 63-65* cut. Seems to make the ssr act taller. I use 38/45/64/75 on mine

Oh! I had no idea that existed :-&
This is what it looks like

Potentially! Are they 10cc domes? It might put my comp too high for pump fuel, heads are 58cc chambers.

Re: LS3 Carbed build

that looks like a very clean install; nice work. I agree, everything looks very legit 202. The black everything is really cool. Is a Calais an Oldsmobile in Aus? Very nice results, very clean everything. Weird that you mounted the brake booster and master cylinder on the passenger side though.....m...

Re: LS3 Carbed build

Sorry I’m a bit of a lurker I don’t post much. Awesome results! It’s stout by any means. Hurry up and put some rods in it and keep turning it!!!!! Just a thought but I wonder what the lifter wheel speed is like with the .700 wheels and a large base circle?? I finally put a driveshaft in mine and tur...

Re: LS3 Carbed build

...t....I have some weird oil pressure deal going on with this thing when under vacuum....trying to figure that out and get back on the dyno. One apparent weirdness is that with a wet sump, the gauge reading psi will drop by 1/2 the "Hg. of pan vacuum, however the operating pressure differenti...
