Having trouble getting the pistons to "retract" back into the calipers for installing new pads. Any tips?
I do crack the bleeders as I push the piston in, but they don't want to move. I only need about .320 between the pads for the rotor but no go.... TIA

JB Weld valve cover baffle?????
Want to put a aluminum baffle on the inside of my fabricated aluminum valve cover. No mechanical fasteners.
I was thinking short of welding, what would work? Would JB Weld hold up to the temps. and oil?
TIA

Re: Header Surface Temperature
At what area on the headers are you pointing the Infrared thermometer? IE: right out of the head, down stream?

braided stainless brake hoses?
I have a drag race only, 3500 lb, high 9.00 low 10.00 sec. car with the Aerospace front #AC205 (drag) disc. brakes and drum rear brakes.... My question is for the front,"flex" braided stainless brake hoses, is -3 AN or -4 AN (hose size) the best choice?

MSD #7411 rotor rebuild kit
Is this (modified) rotor tip ok for a crank trigger setup that is not retarding timing down track? Or should I be using a standard # 7424 rotor on my #7445 cap
I am using a MSD pro billet distributor on my Oldsmobile engine, and the car is N/A.
TIA

Joe... I always check the rotor phasing, if I mess with any ignition components... It is just one more thing/problem I can eliminate... I keep a cap with a sight, hole at #1 position, in my tool drawer...

Dyno cell?
I am interested in thoughts on, if you run an engine dyno in your shop, how important is a well constructed "cell" as apposed to the dyno being run in an open shop? I know the cell would be much safer, but other than that factor, would there be any accuracy advantage, etc..... Is a "c...

Re: Racecar batterys,OPTIMA
They have some marine type batteries which are sealed and jell filled, though. Was looking at a size 27 with 990 cold cranking amps to mount in the trunk near the right rear wheel well. Has anyone used the jell filled marine type batteries? And are they OK to use in the trunk without venting? Just ...

Re: One head stud seeping water.
Dave; My best guess..... It is an Oldsmobile block (1970) the "seeping" stud is the lower rear stud on the right (driver) side. I'm going with the (blind) bolt/stud, hole in the block is porous.... I think I will give the Moroso block seal a shot... I have antifreeze in it as it is stored ...

Just to clarify. My issue is on a (Drag) race only engine..... With the block filled to the water pump holes.

Re: One head stud seeping water.
Thanks gentleman..... I thought about the Moroso block seal, but was concerned about it clogging water passages (water pump, rad. etc) that I did not want blocked. Are my concerns unfounded? Is there a possibility of draining the water, pulling the one stud (it's one that is outside the valve cover ...

Wow if you are that busy at your business you spend a lot of time on here, I am in my shop 6-7 days a week, this morning I was in for 4 hours while we are being hit with a blizzard. I called it quits for the day because I didn't feel like being traped in there. I am in the process of getting this o...

Re: Analog to Digital
From the MSD site under "TROUBLESHOOTING" Check the polarity of the magnetic pickup wires of the distributor. Reverse the connectors and check the timing again. For Analog ignitions the correct polarity is whichever orientation gives the most retarded timing. For Digital Ignitions the corr...
