The early 70's heads had the spring pockets all cut the same height. When the rotators were used they required a shorter spring 1.620 install height.

The last one I did I cut a groove in block behind cam bearing to send oil to the heads then put a restrictor in each head to cut the flow down

A 350 set will work,depends on which block you have. Some take #1 350 brg in front and back. This is from clevite.
