Re: Low RPM Mark VI 454 Intake and Cam Choices?

You were clear about wanting good drive-ability. To me, that relates to good off-idle response and good torque. The rest of the things I mentioned would simply be a bonus. Especially with an O.E.M. type torque converter. Evidently, you don't see it that way. Good Luck. Thanks for the feedback. Some...

Re: Low RPM Mark VI 454 Intake and Cam Choices?

Thanks to all for the feedback. After reading it all, I think it's still very close to the original plan. I'm going to order the a lunati hydraulic roller cam and spring kit this week. For some reason the lunati 454 hydraulic roller cams are still marked about 2/3 the price of a comparable comp cam ...

Re: Low RPM Mark VI 454 Intake and Cam Choices?

I not running anything other than street tires. No soft compounds, no stall etc. I will deal with the wiring and tune first. I'm sure most everything on the truck "could" use some improvement, but if it breaks it will be the priority then.

Re: Low RPM Mark VI 454 Intake and Cam Choices?

Are those heads the "peanut port" heads...? In any case, that cam is not correct for anything not considered high performance. For good low speed torque and trailer towing, I like the GM Mark VI #2296 Marine hyd. roller cam from 1996 to 2001. 204/209@.050" - .480"/.483" val...

Re: Low RPM Mark VI 454 Intake and Cam Choices?

how do the exhaust manifolds from a C60 type 427 truck compare to pickup manifolds? manifolds are going to hurt power in the mid range compared to long tube headers That's why I bought a chassis dyno six years ago. It makes very little money each year, and was about the same cost as a nice hotrod o...

Re: Low RPM Mark VI 454 Intake and Cam Choices?

Thanks for the info. A few months ago a customer who had a 502 summit crate engine in a k2500 ask for help. He did all that. Carb intake, tci trans controller for the 4l80e. We got it going but really it wasn't as nice drivability wise as being able to control everything fuel /trans wise with the la...

Low RPM Mark VI 454 Intake and Cam Choices?

I have a OBS short bed that needs help. Its an abused 90s era project. Someone swapped in the 454 engine/trans from a 96 c2500 suburban and did a bad job wiring and in other areas. Not wanting to get too crazy, but I want to fix it up and make it nice to drive around. I figure a big block short bed ...

Re: Wanted, bill Jones books

For some reason people keep messaging me about the books I sold almost a year ago. Just so its clear. They sold on eBay the same week and there were several bidders. These books don't set around waiting for people to buy them.

Re: Wanted, bill Jones books

I posted both books of my books on eBay. They are great books and Bill spent a lot of time patently emailing me when I would ask crazy questions. Being very young I thought I knew a lot about race cars back then, I was wrong. I have had both books for 20 years now and its time to share them with som...

Recommended Machinist in Florida or south east USA?

Is there machine shop in the Miami area or within a reasonable shipping distance that cares about the work they put out? A friend of mine purchased some very rare parts for a 70s Honda 1200, but he lives on the other side of the USA. He wants to assemble them all on a NOS Honda engine, but got blown...
