Re: Piston to Head Clearance Minimum
#-o Flat milled? To a 54cc chamber It was a mistake in the making I handed the heads to a friend at a machine shop and he angle milled .030 off the first head and got to checking things and told me that the head had been flat milled at some time .030" and then he did a .030 angle mill. He said ...

Re: Nitrous Softening
We have had good results using the NOS mini controler for pulling power at the hit.
% setting, time setting and some pulse frequency adjustment.(Hertz)
Straight forward and not overly complicated.

Re: 423 SBC combo help
What is the rpm drop on the gear changes?...normaly the converter would look like on the 2-3 gear change where the rpm should drop back say 800 rpm and work its way back up.....
If its blowing through you will see very little rpm climb in high gear.

Re: LS cam/lifter failure
Lifters were GM ls7 New with this cam, and valve lifter guides? I assume you are meaning valve guides? No.. valve lifter guides or AKA valve lifter trays. You might check out these two youtube videos on LS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CzhCryAjLM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIq2xxu79NA Of c...

Re: LS cam/lifter failure
Pics of the can lobe corrugation and engine compartment. Last camshaft I bought from Lunati looked like this as well. (Cam was for gen 1 sbc) I did not like it at all. And I am pretty sure if that cam would’ve made it into a engine. The lifters wouldn’t have lasted long ! Thanks, that is pretty muc...

Re: LS cam/lifter failure
Were the valve lifter guides OEM GM or aftermarket? Were the lifters OEM GM LS7 or aftermarket? I stopped buying any cams that are made by comp years ago after several failures. Me to. Same with with their lifters. Lifters were GM ls7 New with this cam, and valve lifter guides? I assume you are mea...

Re: Valve seat width for cooling and reliability
Have had good results with .080"-.090" on 1.6" stainless valve v6 turbo application..... 30+psi boost at times. Should maybe have a better valve material but have not had any issues with the stainless. 150HP per cylinder. Street/strip application. That's making some steam! How long i...

Re: Camming past flow peak
Another relevant factor is that max piston speed/air demand is ~78° ATDC, but peak lift is likely ~ 106°, when the piston has been slowing down for almost 30°. I have read on several occasions that there is a time lag on the order of 15-20 crankshaft degrees, that applies to the pulling action on t...
