Serv equip power stroke honing question
I recently honed a Sbc 10 thou from 4.030 to 4.040. After honing these ripples at the bottom of the bore were noticed leaving me (a rookie that just started machining) perplexed on what to do to remove them. I tried short stone but the ripples remained. The rest of the bore above about half in from ...

Re: LS3 Carbed build
Can't believe I haven't been here and missed a thread like this: The oil pressure problem get solved? The Schuman pump "pressure recovery"will work ok but you have to plug the bypass in the pump. We ran an external "Peterson" regulator and plugged the bypass in the pump. We fed a...

Don't egg shape and distort the round wire locks. Could be detrimental to your wallet. I prefer spirolox.

Re: Large Vortec bowtie, Engine?
The problem you are having is not the head. It's the cam is OUT TO LUNCH for that combo. You need to get the static compression on the edge of the rule and the piston at or a little above the deck. 250's .050 duration isn't going to work on a 355cu/in 9:1 engine unless it has a roots blower installe...

Re: LS3 Carbed build
I have hydraulic roller builds running 8000 rpm every weekend in the summer with .670 lift at the valve with stock GM lifters. I wouldn't worry a bit about that. You can go all season and never adjust a valve..........LOL

Re: 2300 Ford
IMO .080 is enough but JD that posted above you said .095. He's built more than I have. That cam is rather mild. I see no worries for you with a .080-.095 restrictor. That big holed cam lobe can really flood things. A .190 restrictor would flood the hell out of everything IMO.

Re: 2300 Ford
Are you planning on restricting the oil hole between the block and head surface? .080. The holes in the cam lobes are where the most oil comes. I've seen cams with 1/8 lobe oiling holes and they flood things quickly. I'd watch when you do that because it bypasses the oil pump more and will strain th...

Re: Steel-on-steel unbushed rod small ends
Done it many times. The old 250 6 cylinder chevy rod. Narrow it at the big end, hone it out and go. No problems. If it does freeze up don't you have a pressed pin? LOL

That thing sounds good. Pulls hard. Looks like the rear is trying to steer a little on the truck. Pretty good fun I suspect until you get the rear bumper fixed on the Nova.

Re: Circle track 388 vs. 406 vs. 6.0L
As an example: they have a race over this way called the Hillbilly 50. Unlimited steel block rules, basically open tire rule, with late model dirt cars..ie Rocket/Mastersbuilt/etc etc. You can run basically anything with a cast iron small block. SB2's, 13 degree, 18 degree, etc etc etc. The top 10 i...

Re: Circle track 388 vs. 406 vs. 6.0L
It's not the cubic inches that wins dirt races! Cars and drivers win at these venues. Don't worry about building an engine until you are holding what you have WOT all the way around. My 100hp honda can run over 100mph. Takes a little longer to get there, but once there can maintain that speed even u...
