Re: Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
I wont go adding holes.I did read something about people adding a fourth hole in dcoe154 for Alfa's which have the same problem, big idles for decent idling/transition at the expense of a fat low speed cruise...I know, different car different carbs. I am still using your suggestion of 1.00mm AC and sm...

Re: Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
I have about 6 books on Webers, all specify float level at 5-12mm. The latest Weber manual specifies 12mm. Des Hammill's Weber book specs 7.5 mm for brass floats, 12mm for plastic floats. 29mm, are you referring to float drop ? Float level is the critical dimension, float drop less so. The P holes ...

Re: Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
No Geoff, its really hard to start. If I look down the progression port I can see the throttle blade totally blanking out the first progression hole(idle speed screw nearly 1/2 turn in) and fuel level is at 29.5 mm from the body gasket face as per Weber recommendation. Basically Modok,if I use a 6.0 f...

Re: Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
Nope,I was wrong. From dead cold it took 5-6 attempts to start then about 5 min working the throttle til it would idle, makes sense considering 1.6 air bleed in a jet with a 1.5 discharge hole...its only going to draw air not fuel.......modok wrote:Interesting

Re: Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
The idle jet should be sized for how it behaves in steady state. slow "idle up" and cruise speeds. if it fouling plugs, then probably need to go down. If there is a lean hole you need to bring the mains in sooner or stronger, or mess with the acc pump, or get a better intake manifold. Goi...

Re: Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
I've tried 40 to 65,all with various air bleed sizes.Runit wrote:Have you tried 50f8s?

Re: Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
I may have misinterpreted your problem. With my comments above about changing idle jets, I was under the assumption you had a clean idle [ ie, plugs not carboning up ], but at cruise it was rich & carboning up the plugs. Or is it rich at both idle and cruise? I don't want to suggest any further...

Re: Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
71, Short answer is: no. Because the hole is added next to the last hole on the atmospheric side of the carb. It acts as an additional air bleed, leaning the cruise mixture. Countless different versions of the DCOE have been made for special applications. DCOEs purchased new today [ genuine Spanish...

Re: Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
4sfed,that chart showing the different size 'B' holes is exactly what I mean,a 65 fuel hole for easy starting/strong idle but a smaller 'B' hole to restrict fuel flow at light cruise.
I havent seen that chart...great info thanks
Geoff2,wouldnt another progression hole just add more fuel

Re: Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
Sorry,I meant the hole at the opposite end to the fuel hole where the air/fuel mix leaves the jet. I'm got a problem with fouling plugs at low speed cruise. If I use a jet where I get good starting and crisp throttle response it carbons the plugs. I was hoping the smaller hole (F3,F11 etc) would redu...

Weber Dcoe Idle Jet Holes
Does anyone here know why the top hole of a Weber idle jet has different internal diameters? Example;F3 has 1.4mm,F9 has 2mm.Is this to restrict vacuum signal or something?
Any help appreciated.

Re: Another Weber Question;Idle Jets
Thats exactly my point, surely it cant simply be a ratio thing. At idle maybe but light cruise is totally different.
