Re: 401 sbc ready for the Dyno
Can you clarify for me also, youre just using the 6al box to amplify the spark, you're not abandoning the progression thing and using it to program timing?

Re: 401 sbc ready for the Dyno
I'm convinced now the 10° set up puts the rotor to the clockwise side of the cap post. In the previous pic one of the alignment marks is over the O and N on the Progression sticker. Cap post is anti clockwise to that black mark in below pic. Correct 10° set up should be good phasing as circuitry is...

Re: Head Studs or Bolts?
Thanks for the input. Odd though. When I previously posted pictures of my previous engine.....many people told me that my cylinders would leak, and I had to do something about the shadowing.....now it seems nobody here is posting any concern about it. One reason why I never believe everything I rea...

Re: Recommend a Machinist
Literally every single machine shop in the world has a manual lathe sitting there doing nothing they use for odd jobs or cutting off part of tits. Literally no setup required, their jaws should all already be true. Literally a 10 minute job for anyone with a lathe to do.
Glad you found someone.

Re: Engine builder recommendations.
Last time I was on Speed Talk looking for someone to build me an engine nobody wanted the job which is why I went to BPE and got the job done instead. I dont understand why every time I look on this page for an builder, I see engine builders talking about how crates are killing their businesses but...

Re: Lee Shepherd's contribution to head porting.
This is the oldest thread in the world, I get that, and I was going to start a new one but thought it might be nice to resurrect this one. A bit like resurrecting the old tech it mentions lol. I really want to see some pics of the sbc heads he used to weld up and reposition everything on that are me...

Re: Tri-y headers
Yea, beyea ended up sending me something completely different than the schematic I sent them and thought I asked for, they just sent a freshly made shelf header so I found a set of sb2 on ebay today that were so close they should just need flanges. Looks like the tubes are wider on 23 degree heads t...

Re: 23° tunnel rammed 421 sbc dyno
Not yet. Beyea are making me some dyno headers to burns specs, they billed me Wednesday so they should be with me any time, hopefully next week. Dyno guy said it'll be best to test it with the same type of exhaust setup that I'll be running in the car, so, I'm just waiting on that to arrive from bey...

Re: 23° tunnel rammed 421 sbc dyno
With that short cam, and 11.3:1 compression, I don't think it will get close to 700hp on an accurate dyno. More like 680hp@6,800rpm Heck I'd still be stoked with that! I mean, it's the second engine I've done for a car I still haven't driven.. I'm sure everyone knows that song.. at least at that po...

Re: 23° tunnel rammed 421 sbc dyno
The cam is fine. F-bird likes to fantasize spending OPM. Except for this. As a refresher, there are pics of flow numbers and the cam specs. Cam was degreed to intake valve open and the ICL fell on 110 I agree with KE on this. ICL is too far retarded! Wind it forward at least 4 degrees. If it is not...
