Re: Piston oil squirters in NASCAR engines
I'm wondering if there is a way to add a nozzle to the stock squirters? Like drilling a small hole and then brazing on an additional squirter? Another option might be to come in from the opposite side of the block and feed them with a four AN line or some sort of stainless hard line with AN flare nu...

Re: Piston oil squirters in NASCAR engines
Many high performance Japanese engines also use multiple slots on both side of the rod cheek . I figured it was to "leak" the oil in a specific direction instead of just letting it sling off where ever it goes naturally. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0068/3812/4611/products/image_d95d67e9-1c2a-4...

Re: Piston oil squirters in NASCAR engines
I also wonder how this contradicts with the oil control on the cylinder walls, pushing that much oil up onto the piston?

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
What;250 hp from 8 litre V10?? Something is really wrong.. That's 250 at the wheels through an automatic, transfercase, D80 rear axle, large wheels and tires. That's a 20% loss. Maybe a touch high, but about what I figured for a truck. I am sure my dually is a little worse. I think if he is not care...

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
Maybe it's been mentioned. but anyways, increasing midrange power and the resulting higher cylinder pressure will invite detonation. I have some experience with this by advancing lobe centers and cam timing. Dedicated gas truck engine always had lowered static compression to deal with this. Electro...

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
you may not be able to get a regrind on 110, not enough meat where you need it new core time There IS a reason start by plotting where Intake closes @.006 then overlap points Intake Open and ex close then ex open there are several ways to get to similar points- LSA is one, lobe duration is another ...

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
That article brings up an interesting point. Mike mentioned his V10 re-grind was on a 114 lobe center and the stock cam is on a "117". Wonder what happens if I push the LC down to 110? I would get a little lope probably, and I wonder if the there is any major effect on the power brakes? (although A ...

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
Yeah, I know. I want my cake and be able to eat it as well. Some variable cam timing would be really nice right about now.iadr wrote:You say where he mentioned 25in long intake runners, right?

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
It should be fun when your done. I drove it today on a few errands. With my new exhaust, it sounds awesome. So much for getting better mileage. I can't keep my foot out of it cuz I want to hear the engine. It sounds so not like a V8, its great. I can't wait to build a new tune and see what it will ...

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
I can't seem to find the deck height for your engine. Yeah, by only wanting to use Hyper pistons, you have really limited your choices. Its tall. 3.88 stroke with a 6.125 rod, 1.612 compression height, etc. I can't justify the expense of a forged piston, plus I like the tighter P/W clearance and it...

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
Okay, I'm late to the party but early on you mentioned that you were thinking of stroking the crank and using a shorter rod. You said that it has a 2.100 journal when in fact it has a 2.125 which you could grind down to fit a very common small block chevy 2.100 rod and you said that the 4" bore was...

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
Keep looking LOL, I have wasted my morning, I should be welding. spacer shims for the rings? Didn't know there was such a thing without me making it. Probably not worth it on this low RPM engine. I have to change my engine philosophy on this big old low rpm stuff. you say all 4 corners of the...

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
If your going to all the trouble you are, see if you can find a torque plate to use, ring seal, compression and timing for 93 octane will get you all the low end torque you want and carry it through so your cam and ported heads can make some HP. Have a 2in thick steel Torque Plate used when these e...
