Re: Cooling tricks with iron headed hot rods?
Upping the cooling system pressure will help pack the coolant against the backsides of the chamber and it will allow much more water temp without the issue of potential boil over. Sealing the front and the radiator and creating a low pressure area behind it is critical. Air damn below the front end,...

Re: Most aerodynamic Muscle Cars?
They talked about the C2 Grand Sports being so light on the long straights, the drivers could turn the wheels with no effect.

Re: Valve Seat Materials
This is an entirely different application. Think tow rig hauling 20K lbs on whatever pump fuel is available in the middle of the night on the highway some where. Original compression ratio was 8.4:1. That put a bunch of heat into the OE exhaust seats, so at least having a higher compression will kee...

Didn't Fueling offer a cylinder head, cam package for the BBC tow rig?

Re: Valve Seat Materials
PM gets hard as hell after its run for a while. Basically work hardens under the forces of the valve pounding on it. Since the head is cast iron, would any seat material be better than a high nickle type seat at transferring heat? Not too worried about bearings, rings I am actually thinking about go...

Valve Seat Materials
The current engine I am working on has high-nickel chromium exhaust valve seat inserts. Since this was a HD light pickup engine, I assume the did this to keep the seats alive under heavy towing loads. While I have no confirmation, I suspect this is a stellite variant. Seems to a common valve seat ma...

Re: who does DLC?
I have used IHC in North Carolina. Learned a lot about the preparation process. Have to be careful with used parts. I had a rocker arm that the coating flaked off after they coated it twice. It was marked and tagged by the coaters so it didn't get accidentally used.

Re: Torque Monster Dodge V10
A minor update on this as 2023 has been wasted on a home reno and little truck engine development. However, late in 2022 I swapped in a G56 six speed transmission as the mainshaft nut backed off and 5th gear fell off while towing with the original NV4500. Apparently this is a common NV4500 problem. ...

Re: Nissan SR20VE circuit race build
This is pretty bad ass. Why did you block off the oil squirters? Its a good way to get more durability from the engine. I guess there could be concerns with oil pressure with them functional and running wet sump. Its always great watching that race between the Civic and the Celica in the Improved To...

Re: Looking for a Flowbench Shop in the Southeast
This is true if I had spent that whole year working on this project. I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel on this house remodel and need to get back on this project. Haven't had time to deal with much of anything but wiring, plumbing, sheetrock, etc. "Professionals" are h...
