Re: GARRETT T3 OVERHAUL QUESTIONS
A 360 degree thrust bearing should have been standard equipment on T3's IMO. That is the weak link in the turbo especially if you turn the boost up. I can get you a 360 thrust and a new or reman shaft if you need it. Whats the actual part number of your turbo. Probably 466298-xxxx

Re: GARRETT T3 OVERHAUL QUESTIONS
Turbine side piston rings don't normally wear the width that much unless the thrust bearing and thrust collar are lose and sloppy. There should be next to no play in the thrust bearing/Collar assembly. 0.002-0.003 clearance. If there is to much end play the shaft moving back and forth wears the ring...

Re: GARRETT T3 OVERHAUL QUESTIONS
The turbo may have been rebuilt before. Not uncommon for turbos that old. The turbine side piston ring width should measure: Min-0.0615 to Max-0.0625. If it is bigger than that by 0.010 or 0.020 the shaft was already machined for a wider ring. Put the ring in the bearing housing up against the step ...

Re: GARRETT T3 OVERHAUL QUESTIONS
.030 Clearance is way to much. I don't have the Garrett specs right now. But here are some for Borg Warner/ Schweitzer turbos. You can see regardless of turbo size they are all pretty tight. The S2B would be similar to your T3. The important part is the the ring groove edges are square. Your is prob...

Re: can a truck stop weigh your car
Sure if they will do it for you. I weighed my car that way. I will not give individual weights on all 4 corners. Just a overall weight. Or if the scale operator will do it you could put the front wheels on the scale and then the back to get a idea of front/rear bias.

Re: Water injection and o2 sensor
No, I have been using H2O/Meth injection on my blow-thru turbocharged SBC since 2006. Never had a problem with the wideband sensor.

Re: blow-through dominator carb.
Kevin at CSU also builds a great blow-thru carb. He has built several for me and alot of guys at my local track. Never heard anyone complain. The ones I have used were great right out of the box.

Re: can i use a standard carby as a blow through on low boos
I used it for 4 years with no problems. Fined turned with a wideband and it really worked good on the street, Track and Dyno. In 2007 I converted to E85 and then I just couldn't get enough fuel though it with the downleg boosters. Ordered a Blow-Thru from Kevin at CSU Carbs http://csucarbs.com/ and ...

Re: can i use a standard carby as a blow through on low boos
I made my own blow-thru a few years ago using these instructions here: http://www.hangar18fabrication.com/blowthru.html It worked very well and got me 621RWHP from my 350 SBC at 10lbs/boost. Theres a ton of good blow-thru info here also: http://www.theturboforums.com/forums/223-Carburetor-Boost-Tech...
