Flexplate/converter bolts

My 454 flexplate is drilled for 7/16 bolts and my coan converter is 3/8. I am using 3/8-24 grade 8 bolts with washers and stover c nuts. Is this ok or should the converter be drilled for 7/16? I’d really hate to take it all back apart.

Flexplate gap bbc

I switched to a sfi flexplate on my new 454 build. I have .093 air gap between flexplate and converter. Called coan and they don’t seem excited about milling the pads. Is this normal or what? I can’t get a straight answer on what to do. With the stock flexplate I had .125

Hp Differences in 750 carbs

I have a 454 with 215 closed chamber heads. Comp magnum 280 cam. Victor jr intake. It currently has a 750 quickfuel slayer carb. I was wondering how much hp could be gained by switching to a 750 hp or similar carb. The car runs very good for what it is. I'm just trying to see how much I can get from...

Re: A good cam for nitrous?

The car is an 85 cutlass. Roughly 3300 pounds. 4200 stall. 3.73 gears for now but will be 4.10s. I don't mind running race gas

Re: A good cam for nitrous?

The car isn't a strict drag car. It's a mostly strip car that will see occasional street cruises.

A good cam for nitrous?

I am in the parts collection stage of a lower budget bbc nitrous build. The motor will have 150-200 shot. The motor is 468 bbc. 215 closed chamber oval ports. No porting, Manley valves. Holley strip dominator with quick fuel 850. Roughly 11 to 1 compression. Forged rods. My question is I was thinkin...

Re: Biggest valve in closed chamber bbc head

It's impossible to read about 215 casting bbc heads without seeing where Ed posted about his combo. My car isn't a max effort like that. Just trying to make all the little improvements I can afford

Re: Biggest valve in closed chamber bbc head

That's more of what I was looking to get info on. The engine already runs better then I ever thought it would. I know my cam could be better but that will be addressed also in the future

Re: Biggest valve in closed chamber bbc head

The heads are 215 casting oval ports that I already have. I'd love new heads but the budget doesn't allow it. I guess I'll just stick with what I have.

Biggest valve in closed chamber bbc head

What is the biggest intake valve that can be installed in a bbc closed chamber head before it starts to become shrouded. I know installing 2.19 without porting doesn't net much benefit. I can't afford to port but would like to improve the head as much as possible

2 inch carb spacer gains???

My combo is a 462 bbc. Edelbrock performer intake with a 1 inch aluminum spacer. Would a switch to a phenolic 2 inch open spacer be worth it?

Air filter requirements for 462 bbc

I want to go with a spectre low profile single inlet air cleaner with a y pipe coming off of it. It will have dual 4 inch tubes running into each inner fender well with a 4 inch cone filter at the end of each tube. Will this be enough air flow for a 462 bbc? I'm sure there is a formula for how much ...

Re: Looking for 11s with new bbc combo

I went with a performer because hood clearance is extremely limited. I have 235 drag radials on it now but eventually will be 255.
