Re: Post up your VE %
My inline 6, 202 cubic inches made 118% VE at peak torque- this was based off Engine Analyser Pro but the flywheel dyno backed up the numbers, almost spot on. The combo is simple, 202 block, half grout filled Longer than std rods for better rod ratio JZED downport head custon small skirt ROSS piston...

Re: Any downsides to anti reversion mufflers/devices?
Nah, thats not me, that is Trevor Owen from Owen Race Engines... Amazing little package and it makes a fair bit more than my 350 odd hp... Think it made about 320hp at the wheels... But yes, that runs the same head as I run, JZED.

Re: Any downsides to anti reversion mufflers/devices?
A pair of anti reversion "mufflers" placed directly after the header collectors filled in a 90 lb ft hole in torque curve of a 424 CID SB2.2 dirt late model engine @ 2500-ish RPM with no significant difference in power everywhere else in the curve. https://crateinsider.com/using-anti-reve...

You got any video of that motor of yours. I would love to see it (and hear it) if you do. I love inline sixes.

Re: Any downsides to anti reversion mufflers/devices?
How far back did you place it? It's in the only spot that fits really, which was about 15 inches from the start of the collector. food for thought. thats a lot of overlap for a tiny cam. Can't say I would call my cam tiny, and not sure how you worked out the overlap without knowing where the centre...

Re: Any downsides to anti reversion mufflers/devices?
Sorry for dragging up an old thread, I just thought I would comment my experience with a Dynatech torque booster/ anti reversion chamber... I installed one yesterday on my 350hp inline 6 running a 252/260@50 cam and a big port cylinder head designed for high rpm. No dyno data but I can definitely sa...

Re: How Oversquare Can An Engine Get And Remain Streetable?
I'll use a thumper as my example, since this is the engine I like and know best in all of the motorcycling world. Way back in the day undersquare configurations were standard, torque was the name of the game, and transmissions had only three or maybe four gears. Even racing bikes were like this. Me...

Re: Cooling fan shootout - Engine Masters
Beating this dead horse... Electric fans are installed on ALL new cars because they are more efficient. Period. Engine driven fans provide ample airflow at IDLE SPEEDS. Spinning them faster causes them to consume FAR more power than necessary. It truly is that simple. If you want to get max power t...

Re: Cooling fan shootout - Engine Masters
In all honesty, I get the impression we could find 100s of tests that show losses with using an engine fan, but you will ignore the data. There's no science in that. It is common sense and simple physics that the greater the parasitic drag on an engine, the more hp is loss to overcome this drag. Is ...

Re: Cooling fan shootout - Engine Masters
Tuner- it is plausible that your test showed no power loss to a fan, but basic research methodology required one to consider confounding variables- or factors that could influence the data without being obvious. It is always something that needs to be considered in R&D. Here is a quick video; ht...

Re: Cooling fan shootout - Engine Masters
That belt is 1/2 or 5/8 inch wide. How much power goes to propelling the mower vs. turning the blades? Come on people, look at the 5 HP electric motor on your shop air compressor, do you see two 5/8" belts? A 3/8" V belt is not going to deliver anywhere close to 30 HP and last 50,000 mile...

Re: Cooling fan shootout - Engine Masters
You really think 30 HP + the water pump through a 3/8" V belt? #-o A V belt powers the mowing deck on my 27hp garden tractor, so yeah. That belt is 1/2 or 5/8 inch wide. How much power goes to propelling the mower vs. turning the blades? Come on people, look at the 5 HP electric motor on your ...
