Re: LQQking for Vortec Large Port 205 Iron Heads.
They were not 'recently' discontinued. That happened a lonnng time ago. That part number as you know is for Bowtie Vortec heads in a large port, which is 225cc intake port volume. There are zero new castings anywhere, I know, as I bought the last one available in Pennsylvania 2 years ago, just one h...

Assembly lubes, sealants, for race engines and trailer
Looking to see whats the latest everyone is using on race engines. All of my stuff is old and in need of replacing mostly, and so wanting to re-stock the shelves so to speak with all new stuff. This is for drag race engines, naturally aspirated, whats everyone having success with and using, please l...

Re: Can you make 600hp with iron vortec heads?
If you have the large port Bowtie Vortec iron heads professionally ported by someone who knows how to do them, 650 to 700+ is attainable even on small 310 cube small blocks. 062 Vortec 'street' heads, no. When you get the welder out almost anything is possible...... vortecpro, no welding to do that...

Re: Can you make 600hp with iron vortec heads?
I just sold my Large Port Vortec heads a couple of weeks ago. While I did get them into the 285cfm range I decided to get some aluminum heads to pull some weight off the front end of the car and it also might make it possible to run higher compression with pump gas. Damn. I am looking for a second ...

Re: AFR Eliminator Race Intake Manifold for SBC
Did not try a Holley/Dorton ported, ran out of time to procure one and get it ported by a pro, but, we tried four manifolds on a comp SB high RPM deal, a few years ago, on a known accurate dyno. An Edelbrock Super Victor ported by Hogans, the GM bowtie ported by Hogans, AFR TFX composite and a fully...

Re: Anyone tested regular cam bearings to roller cam bearings?
and would another benefit of babbit vs roller be that a given cam core id, for instance on say a SB chev take a 55mm roller cam bearing, but a 60mm babbit bearing, so the benefit is a larger cam core = stiffer cam with all of the benefits of same?

Re: Break in oil magic
I always believed that straight lines, round holes, surface finish and proper clearance will carry the day. Coatings get bonus points. If I build an engine to use 20w50 oil that is what I use to assemble, prime and run down the track. Never, ever an issue. I can see the wisdom in a break in and pos...
